BMW calls them heat shields. They came in today and on the X is less than 5 minutes. It's the little things...
I just ordered a pair after noticing in a photo that mine are missing

Replaced the breather tube that runs from a separator...? to the front/top/left side of the valve cover.

I broke the previous tube (very brittle) when I replaced the Intake Cam Position Sensor.

Destroying the bottom end was the only way I could remove the previous tube; terrible angle, view, and room....I said a bad word or two...lol

Seen a hard plastic 1/4" dia tube; bent at 90 degrees, in that area under the intake; I cannot see where it is supposed to terminate, but the car runs OK, no codes.

Fun

Edit: also replaced the oil filler cap, snorkle rivets, and a bolt cover on top of the valve cover....

I believe the un-terminated 1/4" tube under the intake is #7; the transmission breather tube.

Spent some time today buttoning up the fitment of the rear bumper after wrestling the Dinan mufflers into shape. Took a torch and 5lb mini sledge to get the fitment to where I was happy with those. They are within 1/16" now and sitting in the middle of the bumper openings. Someone was having a bad day using the jig when they welded up the hangers on this set...

Few "damnit" moments though... ran out of rivets on the rear flares so have those coming in through A-Prime, will be here Sunday. We live in an amazing time don't we? Sorry mom and pop shops.

But far worse than that... here is the condition of one of my steamrollers in the rear. Treadwise these still had another 4-5k miles in them. But that cracking/dry rot says they are headed for the bin. That's an unplanned $1100 in tires.

Are those still the Pirelly P zeros? how is the traction on those?

Yep, still the Pirelli P Zeros. They have roughly 20k miles on them in my ownership and unknown mileage from the previous owners. Got them both with ~9/32nds tread back in January/February 2016. Pirelli is the only manufacturer to do a 325/35R20 tire so I have to go with it again. Nothing good in the used market right now though so they will be new this time. My wallet hurts.

As for traction. I never unintentionally broke traction in the dry or the wet. They can hydroplane though if doing 75+ in a really heavy rain. In really heavy rain I keep it at 65mph and have no real issues unless I hit standing water. Not sure how hard and slippery they would get in the cold as here in south Texas the coldest we see is in the high teens to low twenties every winter.

I only ask because they have bad reviews on tire rack. I do want to go that wide on the rear, but I think for me it will be better to go 315 on the rear 10.5 wide instead of 11. Better tire options.

Definitely better tire options. Like 1000% better, lol. Unfortunately I have to stick with that tire as my fronts are still great and switching back to a 315 would require moving back to the factory size fronts as well. And since my wheels are wider I'm not sure I'd like the look. My tires have saved the wheels on multiple occasions due to the extra sidewall so I'll suck it up and buy the Pirelli's. I knew going into the wheel purchase I would be taking it in the shorts every time I needed to buy tires. I liken it to knowing your brake jobs are going to be insane if you upgrade to a BBK. Does it make financial sense? Nope. But man do those wide/tall tires look good on there.

I'm not sure why all the negative reviews though, mine exceeded expectations for a performance tire. And I bought them used.
