Is it me or does it look like it got smacked in the ass. I know it kissed someone too. That eBay maf you got. Yea, no, send it back. You can also install that maf straight to your wallet. That way it will measure the money you blow on figuring the problems it caused.

I will update you later with a contact from Bloomfield BMW. He gets the best prices for parts. Stay away from eBay shit.

Yeah, I noticed the rear damage too. HUGE +1 on staying away from e-bay crap, that stuff will have you buying the quality replacement item within a year and cause hours of "chasing your tail" during problem resolution.

weird, I've purchased a ton of ebay parts for my E30 and E36 and never had a problem with them.

man you guys are beating me up over this X5, I expected a lot more "fun project" like comments. Lighten up, it's a $2000 X5, if I drive it for one winter it's paid for itself. I get to tinker with it and hopefully give it a little more life.

Put some life back it it, and save an X from going to the junk yard. Good for you.

We're not trying to beat you up, but you have to realize these things are a pain in the ass when they're in good condition, reliability is not an X5 strong point.

I agree. The OP fails to realize the difference between cheapness and value. Nothing worse then owning a vehicle that has you wondering "will it make the distance to my destination without breaking down???".

There's high value in peace of mind that is not acquired in a $2k X with a laundry list of issues and an undefined owner/service history.

Nice!
I had to put a new ac cover in my 4.8 and it was a PITA working with the copper springs and buttons.

An '02 X in fair condition with that mileage has a KBB private seller value of $5800. That's $3800 to put towards the list of repairs, which seems to be on the low side of what it will cost to bring it up from it's poor condition to fair.
