your car's order sheet says automatic, which is IHKA... the other docs say IHKR... so, i am trying to figure out which version you have (which i suspect 99%, it should be IHKA)... there is an A11 module that corresponds to IHKA for your production date, but for some reason, the schematics are not coming up - i probably need to clear the computer's cache...

there are two sites, one is a newer site bmwvin.com which was down last night for whatever reason, and the other one is rubmw.ru, which is older but is in russian - you need to navigate to english portion of the site...

Hey T, is it possible to turn off lights based on what position the light switch is on?

I don't quite understand what you mean with this question.

I turn my lights on manual, just because I want to decide when what is on.

So my lights in position 1, turn on only the Angel Eyes. If I hit the fog light button, the fogs turn on.

If I put in position 2, my HIDs turn on.

Man...if you fall asleep...you miss a lot.

If the build sheet lists : S534A KLIMAAUTOMATIK Automatic air conditioning ... then that is the IHKA control panel. The IHKR is the manual control panel that has the 3 round dials that use bowden cables to operate the air flaps & temp control, etc.

And with an early build date...your IHKA control panel would have the REST button and not the MAX button. So, if you wanted to upgrade to the an IHKA w/MAX button...you would have to find a new or used one, then code your car so that it can run the extra programming (max cooling) feature. Your vehicle won't automatically perform the MAX function without reprogramming.

Below is an illustrated diagram of the manual IHKR control unit:

Short answer - NO.
Long answer - YES... the light switch S8 (like many other switches in the car) sends a signal to the LCM based on the switch position. There is a small circuitry inside the switch that allows the LCM to monitor the switch for the position and based on that, turn on/off specific light. The lights in the car can be turned on/off by sending specific commands on the iBus, and you might create a special effects light show (first 30 seconds of this video BMW M7 - YouTube). Thus, it is possible to build a box that will intercept the signals coming from the light switch S8 and tell the LCM to behave in your specifically desired way.

good example is a little box that I have for the TV module, that blocks the speed signal coming to the TV module and tells the module the speed is zero, hence allowing the TV to stay on while the car is in motion.

So, the answer is - do you want to build such a box?

I think you just answered my question. What I want to do is this:
"Auto" - all light function normally as they would from the factory.
"off" - Same function as factory
"Park lights" - only angel eyes on. All rear lights off as well.
"last position" - same as factory

Essentially it would just be the angel eyes on when the light switch is switched to park lamps.

I can't/don't want to disable the markers when the headlamps are on because the cops around here aren't the friendliest bunch.
