Unclebuck that looks great, great job, and terminator black would look great to it gives it a phantom look.

Here are some other quick and inexpensive mods

the steering wheel, cesar... is the original emblem secured by plastic tabs on 3 and 9 o'clock? i have done all of those black outs, including the wheels center caps, the front and the back and also the valve stem caps in black but could not remove the original steering wheel emblem...

You're not supposed to remove the steering wheel emblem (according to BMW)... I guess you're to just stick the new roundel stickers over the stock one. I removed mine in the E46 and I'd recommend not doing it.

Thank you. Those are going to be the next thing I do probably. Since its cheap. I just wanted to see what the black would look like before I went out and bought the emblems. They look really good on yours!

What exactly is a face lifted X5. I keep seeing people talking about it but I have no idea what it is.

BMWs model lifespan is about 7 years from introduction of mass production to the end of it... somewhere in the middle of the 7 year span, the factory updates the look by changing shape of lights, tails, some minor things.. it is called Life Cycle Impulse , LCI... for the X5, it happened in MY 2004, when a new V-8 was introduced, the N62 in place of M62 (M62 has been in the BMW line up since early-mid 90-s, which itself got its own revisions from no VANOS to single VANOS to double VANOS).

instead of calling these models LCI folks just call them facelifted, i guess reference to a plastic surgeon lifting up old face to make it look young!!!

Dark, you got pics posted somewhere , we could take a look at your "black edition"? I have wheels' center caps blacked out, the valve stem caps blacked out, I did not yet black out the front and rear emblems on 4.8 (they are blacked out on the 4.6), and did not do the steering wheel... I just realized, there is also a color emblem on the engine cover on the N62 motor... it'd be cool to black it out too, just to be consistent... I was wondering if the center push button on the keyfob could be blacked out as well... Then, it would really be, a "Black Edition"... lol...
