the next one will be to find tucked away connectors under the central console...
under your center armrest there is a storage bin. that bin is pressure fit as well, it could have a piece of velcro at the back, where the armrest's hinges are - you put your hands inside the bin, and applying side ways pressure to the walls of the bin, pull it up... do it gently - some of them will pop up really fast, some of them are stuck... could be stuck on velcro... if it does not give easily, do not force it...

once the bin is out, you will see an plastic/cardboard tube, shaped in "S" - one end of the S goes at the bottom front of the central console, pulling A/C and the other end blows it out the vent holes... that S is just snapped in - look carefully at how it is sitting there, because fitting the bottom back might be a bitch... once the S is out, you will see two sets of wires going to the FAN turn wheel and the hot/cold wheel... try to find other wires that would be connectors for the heater switches - if you find them, your chances are growing exponentially!!!

Ok that one I cant get to come out. I can get it to rock back and forth but it wont come out and I didn't want to force it. I can however see a few wires down in there through the holes in the back where the arm rest attaches

plug X792 - backrest heater
plug X337 - seat heater
plug X636 - switch (left). right is identical.

Now, all you need just the seat and the back rest... easy!!!

K93 - is an automotive relay... goes in the trunk, right side, where the subwoofer sits.. if you have sub... otherwise, just the bunch of fuses and relays...

Im gonna start searching tomorrow for the seat and backrest. Thanks again. You've been a lot of help already. Everyone has. As long as money holds out Im sure with everyones help Ill have a really amazing X5 in no time.

good luck... if you really go for it, keep us posted - i myself got interested in the rear airbag retrofit - supposedly the car is prewired for it, i would need the air modules about $200 a pop, and the most expensive piece would be the rear door panels.. and then - off to programming the airbag module to recognise the new bags... that is if i go for it... also, i noticed that S265 - RDC is prewired as well... interesting, i did not know that a few years back when i was fighting to retrofit the RDC into the 4.6iS... oh well...

again, good luck...

Thank you and good luck to you to. You know I'm kinda surprised this has been such a closed thread I guess you would say. Its only been the few of us talking. I thought more people might join in with as many people as there is on here.

i am researching other things for the X, as I am trying to figure out, how i can have the sunroof close under the rain, if i am stupid enough to leave the roof open and walk away... still leaves the question about the windows...

yours came as a side project, that was rather easy retrofittable...

a lot of folks on the east coast are dealing with Sandy... others have life and are out partying... i got the kids tucked in the bed, and just chilling in front of the computers...

Mike, when is that dinner in MD? did it already happen? i just remembered about it, need to search for the post...
