So help a guy who is not familiar with this - and these are sincere questions - not leading or sarcasm. I've just never seen this -

1. The intent is the matte finish, correct?

2. Is this considered a long term thing (say - 8 mos or more)?

3. If so, does this tolerate summer sun and associated UV effects?

4. Wouldn't you have had to scuff the underlying paint for this application to adhere well enough for regular use?

1. Yes

2/3. Long term.. Maybe. Tough to say, it will withstand UV. But if you get a part that starts to peel, it's easy enough to fix

4. Nope, it sticks just fine. Go on YouTube and check out the demos.

when changing in different color [using none permanent paint - plasti or vinyl ] do you have to report that "repaint" every time to the DMV ?

I did see 5 series painted white on one side and black on the other [with the line in the middle of the top/ trunk/ hood] wonder if that was vinyl ......... [maybe it was driven by Cruela lol ]

That's a very good point/question? Anyone who has done this care to chime in?

Did you remove the bumpers, trim, headlights, etc? It seems like removing that stuff is the way to do it properly but yours turned out pretty good as-is.

I'm thinking a matte army green on mine...... Hmmmm

I have Plasti-dipped my wheels in august of 2012, still going strong... and to my knowledge, in the US we do not need to report to the DMV/DOT the "new" color of the car, regardless if it non-permanent or permanent... in some other countries, it is a requirement, say in Russia, you must report the new permanent color...

Remember that movie, TAXI, the US version? with Queen Latifah?... when the hot brasilian (or, were they Chech?) models were robbing banks in a plasti-dipped 7-series... I should have known then, that it is doable...

No need to go nuts masking areas off, peels clean off windows and lights, will last for a very long time...also surprisingly really good with protection of our cars paint.
Its a matte finish but you can spray plastidip gloss as well as normal gloss. I sprayed it myself 1 part plastidip 1 part thinner with a wagner gun that's available at home depot/lowes.

Last but not least you do not have to report it because its removable, I was just reregistering my x5 and got the thumbsup from dmv because its not permanent.
