Plasti-Dipped my X5 yesterday

I had never done anything like this before so there was a bit of a learning curve but it turned out pretty good thanks to the paint being very forgiving to work with. I used 1 gallon of plasti-dip mixed with 1 gallon of thinner and a wagner middle of the road electric paint gun. I should have masked off a lot more because where the overspray is really thin, you have to rub it off. Where it's thick though, it simply just peels off which is pretty cool. I did the roof also.

Wow that's cool. Good protection for the winter. I almost did my wheels, this is encouragement.

This is my plan for the summer. Cpl of us are gonna go in on a procar kit. Gonna do matte black/black on the X5 and matte black/gloss orange on my Fiero. www.dipyourcar.com is super helpful as well if anybody needs assistance.

Guess it was really only a matter of time before someone did the whole truck. We got us a new king of plasti-dip in town!

Im curious how this stuff holds up to being battered with sand (ie front bumper & mirror covers specifically). Will it still peel off in one piece or become a huge PITA?

Holds up amazingly well! I've plastidipped my x5 2x (once black, now white) for better durability go with 3-4 gallons of paint/thinner. Masking isn't too big an issue as you can simply peel it off

Wow!! That's a TON of painting. I thought it took forever to get rid of 2 gallons on my ride. Another gallon or two and I could definitely see the layers really building up. I'm also building a full custom exhaust system for it to exit out of the hole for the trailer hitch so now that we've moved the battery box inside of the vehicle, once the stock exhaust is out, we'll have plenty of room to play.
