Broken EGR temporary fix (waiting for parts)

Hi all,

Could not find the answer to this specifically. Maybe a stupid question.

Car is an 09 xdrive35d.

My egr cooler just sprung a leak (cracked at the accordion). I would like to be able to use my car while I wait for parts, so in the short term, can one blank off the egr cooler without the car going to reduced power mode and throwing lots of codes?
Does the delete require coding out or tuning out of the ECU?

I’d like to just get it fixed, but parts generally have to come from Europe or the US unless you are willing to get a second mortgage.

Thanks for any input!
