Now that I have the VIN# for my SD and using the link below

http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/searchCargo.do

i typed in several VIN # of BMWs on sale in Perth to hopefully track down one that was shipped directly to Fremantle to see the time taken.

I found one and from what I gather....

If ship directly to Perth it will take around 2 weeks
If unfortunately ship arrives in Eastern Sates first then it take around 4 weeks to get to Fremantle

i sure hope mine goes direct to Fremantle from Savannah, GA.

well the production week says 3/1/08 but i dont know delivery. It will may still end up being Mar i think.

I have a feeling the earliest SD's in Australia will arrive in March and maybe are all on the same ship !

I'm trying to find out if the car is finished or still in production.

BMW Groups Nth Am opens in 11pm perth time so I will ring the 1800 number again because when i rang it last time and said my VIN over the phone the voice command put me straight through to another recorded message that said they are closed.

Posted this elsewhere today ...any thoughts / help appreciated ...

I'm looking at placing an order through BMW Melbourne soon for an SD..I'm waiting to test drive hopefully this month when one lands. Thought about V8 as you get alot of extra fruit with the V8 (e.g. comfort seats, self level suspension etc) but I reckon a few mods will make the SD just as quick and overall a better daily commuter drive (with better economy but dont care so much about that)

Lets face it 95% of the time we're crawling around city / urban streets somewhere between 50 and 70 km/hr - so diesel is going to be a better bet from rolling acceleration perspective ....

anyway ..just interested in your thoughts on Aussie tuners who use the UK based chips ...I saw the post here on TUNIT.

What about these guys?
http://www.dpchip.com.au -they seem to have a unit also for the X5

Did any of you guys have a standard 3.0d tuned ? by why? did it make a noticable differenece? did anyone dyno to prove it? any good melbourne based tuners you could recommend?

I'm really keen to juice mine up a bit because in Aus they are detuned to cater for hot weather running and I suspect diesel quality not always as good as overseas. I reckon if the TUNIT dyno's are for real then the SD should be pushing around 235kw and something like 620Nm - and this should give it the same 0-100km/h as the V8 I suspect - if not a little faster .... thoughts?

Also - did you guys get an corporate discounting on the SD retail price? I'm keen to get a good deal as the options list is expensive so I want to get a good deal to help pay for things that should be standard (like Sunroof) ....

Yippee !

My SD is built and "ready for distribution" which means to be delivered to the dock etc etc.

Hopefully it will on the ship sometime over the next 2 weeks and sailing directly to Fremantle !

I wonder if mine will be the first SD delivered in Perth.....

Not bad i suppose, earliest build date was 14 Jan (3rd week production) and its now 17 Jan so 3 - 4 days to slap an X5 together ?
