Twin Turbo X5 in Perth - let me be one of the first

The dealer had a spare allocation for Jan 08 production so I took the opportunity and ordered a Space Grey X5 3.0sd Exec with the following added options
  • Sports package
  • panoramic sunroof
  • Head Up Display - wish it also displayed Revs, Fuel level
  • style 211 alloys
  • side steps
  • HiFi Loudspeaker system
  • Camel trim with bamboo
Really looking forward to delivery day ! Hope the 3.0sd version comes with a badge on it that says Twin Turbo in bold letters

The dealer estimates that the car will arrive Mar/April but I'm praying that it will be much earlier...

I'm trying to figure out the schedule ie why it takes around 3 months.

How long does it take to build it (1 month?), ship it here to Australia (1 month ?), delivery to dealer (??)

I managed 3k off but it still worked out at 155k cos it's almost fully loaded + individual paint. they seemed very loathe to give me anything off at all, saying they could easily fill the order at full RRP due to the demand for the twin turbo and the very limited build slots. which is probably true, but I asked the salesman to try anyway and they agreed

Got one due for delivery here in the UK around the 12-15th Dec 07
The only visible difference is the badge on the side which says 3.0sd rather than 3.0d and its got the same chrome grills as the 4.8

Have you driven one before ? maybe you could let us know what its like. does it still have the turbo whistle that can be heard in the E53 - i really like that whistle especially in enclosed spaces such as undercover carparks, it gets heads turning...

with respect to the badges - i'm gonna find a way to get some nice ones made up so when i blow ppl away and the're behind me they will know what did it..

thats good to hear about the 3k off. I will keep in mind when I work out the final deal, this being when the car gets here and I'm trading in my 2006 X5.

Some salespeople like to give the standard line such as 'there selling like hot cakes', ' long waiting list' etc etc. I have no time for these types and I am lucky that I know some really genuine people at my local dealer in both sales and service - I'm always happy when i visit and leave.

What options did you choose to get it to $155k ?
