I know it's been said but the fact that the rear climate control steals 80 percent of the front air when used is a real ass chapper to me. I have kids and occasionally, they'll hit it by accident and I don't notice until my A/C is on full blast for 30 mins straight and the car doesn't seem any cooler.

Other than that, I love my 4.8...I really do.

Three items:

1. The tranny shifter. Can't count how many times the car wash guys have a befuddled look on how to shift the car.

2. Run flats. Let us pick the type of tires we want, don't shove expensive and stiff tires down our throat. BMW lets you customize everything, why not the tires?

3. Reliability and build quality. Way too much effort is put into gizmos and not enough on building a dependable fun to drive car. Thanks to build quality and my last buy back, my BMW days are coming to an end.

No oil-temp indicator for the diesel.

Tailgate opens electric by remote, but not close.....

That's all!

Your #3....that's a BIG one! I've said so many times, that besides maybe with Porsche, it is very hard to beat BMW handling, road manners, brakes and sheer driving pleasure (Freude am Fahren ).

Our 2003 Z8 Alpina, a 2004 330cic, 2007 750Li, 2007 E70, 2008 E70, 2010 750i and my last 2011 E70...all had battery problems. Battery problems that several dealers could not ever fully diagnose, nor fix. I mean, it is very, very maddening and frustrating that your battery will not be ok, if your new BMW sits for a few days, or you have the doors open to vacuum the interior.

That paired with numerous interior rattles and creaks, oddly behaving and/or poorly performing HVAC, random warning messages (with NO stored fault codes), jerky transmissions, etc, etc. I still LOVE BMW, but am for sure on a BMW vacation.

We've had over 20 NEW Mercedes since 1996, and NOT one of them had a single battery issue (not saying every car was perfect though). I think in terms of build quality and materials used..BMW has for sure slipped behind Mercedes, Audi, Porsche and maybe even Lexus. It's really sad, because a BMW handles so damned well!!

And I've had 2 X5's since Feb '01 and none have had issues. The more cars you turn over the greater chance of starting over with another issue. I'm not making excuses for BMW don't get me wrong.

I sure don't disagree that some of the X5s are trouble free. My 2011 was with the exception of a rattling window that was fixed. But at the same time, you would think they would get better as BMW gets deeper into a model. Yet the X5 hasn't shown the type of improvements I would expect.

In my case, they did buy mine back a couple of weeks ago and I am selling the new replacement they gave me in the for sale section here. (I'm a premium member, so I can say that!)

New one is trouble free, but my patience just wore out. The X5 is a superb driver and a great ride as long as you can handle the issues that come up. But BMW overall needs to concentrate more on quality all the way down their food chain starting at suppliers to manufacturing.

I love my X5....it doesn't love me back! Too many problems to list. I love driving this car...love the way it looks, handles, the ride is unbeatable. It's just too expensive to maintain. I don't think it's meant to be your primary vehicle. If I knew then what I know now....I would not be the owner of an X5!

I have never had a problem with any of my x5's, apart from the one time the sat-nav decided to stop working, but I still had warrenty and it was an easy fix
