I love the power the V-8 has when asked to "pass". Anyone on the Board have a chance to really compare the power and performance at highway speeds when attempting to overtake the three or four vehicles towing trailers and assorted big rigs that always seem to be in the way?
Appreciate any information.
Have you test driven 35d? I don't think power is lacking when passing. Torque is higher than 4.8is.

Yes, I have test driven the diesel twice now but traffic conditions prevented my mashing the throttle! I was impressed with the car although I admit, I missed the V8 "growl"! Thank you for your comments BTW.

Greetings. I'm brand new to the forum. Have enjoyed what I've read so far. I just put $ down to order a 2010 X35d. No build date or anything yet. Then I stumbled across the 10th anniversary edition, and I really like what I saw....the color coded bumpers, and the flared wheel well arch trim, from the 4.8's. I spoke to the dealer yesterday and they assume me that there will be zero allocation for the US for this car. Can anyone confirm?

Thank you,

Scott

I read that the US would get 500 of these cars but I could be wrong. On another topic, I'm debating ordering the "Head-up" display. I frequently us the nav system (TomTom) in my 2000 4.4i and the idea of not having to take my eyes off the road is appealing. Anyone on the Board have comments?

I understand it doesn't work with polarized glasses.

Robert47, let me know if you come across that article. The dealership is wrong so many times, and I would hate to pass up the opportunity. Doesn't make sense that they are going to make 2000 copies, here in the US, and ship them all overseas. Oh well, I hope you are right, and I can figure out how to get one. As for headsup...man that one is a must-have. Because I'm 1-off in size, I can't see my speedo, so I'm always looking down at the digital display on my M3. The 2 options that I like most and can't get on a 3 is the HUD and the bifercated seat back, so that you can articulate the upper portion to hug your shoulders. Very nice. Just MO.

Robert, my last car was a 4.8iS. Prior to that one I had a 2005 545 with the HUD. I missed it terribly in my 4.8iS and ordered in on my new 35d. The best part of the HUD (for me) is that when I use the Nav I keep the nav volume muted and just use the HUD. It's really nice not to have any voice interrupting music or phone conversations etc. It's especially nice when you have passengers as they don't have to hear it. What's more in the new iDrive you can save the split iDrive screens for other functions instead of the nav instructions. IMO its WELL worth the extra$$.

Blair 780 - thank you very much for the info on head-up display - sounds like a must have for me as well thanks to your input. No wonder the upcoming 7 comes with this feature. Wish they would offer a pre-installled Valentine "quick connect"! Speaking of which, I have my Valentine "hardwired" in my M5 and just discovered a similar install guide on Xoutpost for the new X5! Great Message Board!

"Pulled the trigger" - ordered the new "Bi-Turbo oil burner"! I managerd to get it for $750 over dealer invoice plus $850 "Destination charge", $400 "MACO", $180 "Training Service Fee". The $4500 "Eco Credit" was deducted after sales tax. Hardly a surprise in California! Delivery in about 8 weeks. Thanks to all for the information and help.
