Hello friends,

I am confused by the 2010 X5 offering now and was wondering if you all can help. How many different models of X5 will be available for the 2010 MY? Do I have it correct with the following:

6 cylinder gas model
8 cylinder gas model
diesel version
M gas version

Will there be 4 different X5 models available for 2010? Or will the M version replace the current 8-cylinder version? And now is there also going to be some anniversary flavor? Confused because I am planning to get a 2010 X5, but want to know what my options are.

Thanks!

There will be 4 models you mentioned plus the anniversary edition which will be very limited production. ///M version is NOT replacing anything. It is in addition to others.

I'm confused with the specs on the 2010/2011 engines and the release dates...

I see the engine changes for the X6, some say X5 6 cylinder gas will be updated too but not sure from the press release...any ideas? If so, is it available in the 2010 or 2011 LCI?

Also, the 2010's order date was some time this fall for Oct/Nov delivery? Is that still true? Would that include the 10th Anniversary Edition model as well?

There was a post about the 2011 LCI being spring of 2010 - which is VERY close to the 2010 release date - is that possible?

OK - hope that makes sense...cause I've totally confused myself Help a newbie out...trying to figure out if I should by the '10 or if the '11 and if they'll be coming out with the bigger diesel/gas a few months after...should I wait for that.

Cheers in advance.

That's good to know. Hopefully I can get the standard 8 cylinder model while the rest of the enthusiasts compete for the M. I like the Sophisto gray, but since my Sienna minivan is almost the same color, I wouldn't mind having something different.

The model array for 2010 is quite dizzying when you consider all the different ones available. I appreciate the clarifications.

Now on to figuring out the best way to negotiate a lease on one of these bad boys!

My X5 4.8 lease is up in February of 2010. I'm wondering if the new X5 will be out relatively close to that. And will it get the twin turbo 3.0 & 4.4? Seems dumb on BMW's part to continue making the 4.8 when the 7 series, X6 both have the new twin turbo 4.4. I would think it only makes sense that engine is going in the new 5 series as well.

I just hope the new X5 does indeed have the 326hp 3.0TT & 449hp 4.4TT. That will give me so many options - a 6 cylinder that is probably as fast or faster than my 4.8, with better gas mileage and hopefully less of a payment, a super fast V8, for just a bit more, and, if I'm really crazy (and willing to give up the 3rd row) the almighty M version...
