You are getting power if red light on. When you shift to "R", what happend to the screen? Blank? Flash in a second or no change at all? If the DIP setting is correct based on the instruction. You may want to double check the connection of the rear camera. It may be loose connection.

Your X5 is 2010 with new iDrive right? Did you double check the interface you got is compatiable with new iDrive? The interface connection should be like a square for new iDrive. Did you try pressing and holding the Menu button for few seconds to see if the screen is doing anything?

Yes this is for the new Idrive. Not sure which connection your talking about. I know it has a round connector for the LCD. the connections to the can areas are 4 wires. can high, los ground and acc. I didn;t hook up the safe and rear camera hook-up since it was suppose to be done through i drive. The other end of that is a rectagular connector that plugs into the QSID unit.. also the manual that came with the interface shows an option in the menu to switch from old and new idrive.. Thanks for your help Matrix. Will try to hold the menu button down for a bit to see if it does anything. will check back in after..

Yes, it is rectangular. It has been a while since i installed last time. If i remember right. I only ran wire for ACC, Gnd, CAN H/L. Rear camera just used the A/V input (Rear-C label) and camera power from rear 12v.

Update.. so i guess i had a misconnection somewhere, but now I was able to get to the menu jsut fine. I can get av1, av2 and av3 working with a dvd player just fine, but the rear backup camera doesn't show. I am using it through CAN connection. I have set the dip properly as well as the setting in the menu as cvbs4 on (down) and in the menu as CAN. Still ntihng comes up. Even tried connecting the dvd video plug in place of the back-up camera still nadda. The screen just seems to go back to the main BMW menu screen showing radio, telephone ect... I also tried connecting the Main wire to have it switch with the reverse light, but still nuttin. Any ideas?
