Well, this morning I spoke to someone in the BMWNA executive offices in NJ. She stated that omission of the whitish LED corona rings was a product marketing decision based on packaging and price points for the US market (we have the cheapest BMWs in the world).

Needless to say, she also amended that with saying that this wouldn't necessarily be something that can't be re-evaluated for next year.

If they had enabled it as an option, I would've easily paid for it, guess I have to think about PIAA bulbs.

I'm pretty pissed about it, but nothing we can do. Btw this person also stated that the EU headlamp cluster can't be retrofitted to the US models.

Even though she couldn't come out and say it as a BMW relations person, she essentially implied that for us enthusiasts, the current available options are to look towards aftermarket solutions.

What a retarded marketing decision, the angel eyes have become the signature for the BMWs in the past decade, you'd think they would've updated them. I would've easily paid for them as an upgrade.

I don't its think price issue. BS on that. I won't be surprised if it shows up in October when they have the side view camera as well. Sounds more like a supply issue to me. They had the lights in stock or something and want to use them first before moving to new ones.

I agree......they will be here in a few months when the old lights run out.....BMW really wants to piss off their most loyal customers with this i.e. early adapters.....if the lights show up at the end of this year then they better upgrade us for free....I know dream on......

This is ridiculous! I waited to place my order for an X5 because the new one was coming amd wjem the pics started hitting the internet I placed my order. Now I find out that I wont be getting what I saw in those pics, THIS SUCKS! You'd think that an "updated" at this price point would come with all of the new bells and whistles....

That an issue you have to take-up with dealer and BMW NA. And you will be right in refusing delivery as they are showing something and delivering something else.
