Yeah, seems the diesels have been delayed. I know a few dealerships now have 50is on their lots, and I believe someone posted that they saw a 2011 M Sport, but didn't know if it was a 35i or 50i.

Like I have said in past posts, it seems that nobody at BMW or at the dealership seems to know anything. I just dont understand it. I was told that my car was going to be released to the port and loaded on the ship to be transported from Germany to the US by one BMW rep. I had to correct them that the X5 is made in south carolina, of which they argued with me and said, no they are made in Germany. BMW should be embarrassed to have people like this doing customer service. Its not rocket science. You schedule a date for it to be released to the carrier, and you should be able to tell the future owner what that date is.

Question 2011 X5 wheels styles?

I'm in a process of ordering 2011 X5 50i and wondering what's a STD wheel style and whats my options(styles and prices) when it comes to ordering a different wheel style without ordering ZAP or ZMP package?

Mike,

BMW pulled a fast one with the 50i and is using the style 210 wheels on those. I have a 2007 x5 3.0 with no ZAP and those are the wheels - 18" 5 spoke. They are nice, I guess, but in no way worth of a twin turbo v8. They only upgrade is via options. ZAP gives you 19" 335 or ZAP + 20 give you 20" 336. Both look flowery to me but provide a better, more aggressive stance. I ordered the 336 after considering going non sport and getting the x6m wheels on my own (the are the best looking ones in my opinion). I decided against the x6m route b.c of the pain-in-the-butt factor (replicas, mail order, getting the proper flares so the 20's dont stick out, etc) and b.c I plan on getting a proper winter setup for the 4 months of winter in NY and to keep my wife happy.

you can also go with M-sport which offer 19" and have a 20" upgrade but its not an option I would consider.

mikeny, I am in Los Angeles, so weather is not a concern. Rarely even rains here. And, I am big wheel and tire guy. I do not like how the X5 looks with the standard 18" rims, or the 19" rims for that matter. I do like the 20" 214 Y spoke, but they have been on alot of X5's for the past 4 years. That is why I ordered mine with the 336 rims. Not too many X5's will have them, at least initially. I have a feeling that in person they will look awesome. Pictures never do justice as to how a car looks, or how the rims look. I obviously ordered the sport activity package for $2000.00+ and upgraded to the 336 for I think about $950.00.

Epacy is an unknown quantity at this point
EPA/CARB delay also verified by my dealer. Bulletin from BMW that says the April production X5 35d's will be released to carriers in May because of delayed EPA/CARB certs.

No specific date given. How come the same engine, 35d, has to be re-certified if nothing changed?

Just saw on the CARB site that they approved the 2011 X5 35i. Looks like the diesel is the last one we are all waiting on. :-(

Maybe something did change, like a tweak in the programming to improve engine response, reduce emissions, reduce the jerk from a dead stop, reduce DEF consumption rate, make the particulate filter and catalyst last longer, etc.

BMW makes lots of changes in their vehicles from year to year which they never publicize.
