I picked-up my 201 X5 from the dealer November 3 and the BMWUSA site says it is still waiting for shipment to my dealer.
I think it is sometimes a bit out of date. |

Yep, I think the BMW NA on line info, as well as the 800# info, are a week or so behind. My X5 35d has been through production for a week or so but can't be delivered until EPA/CARB approvals have been completed. Again, I live approximately an hour from the Spartanburg plant and am planning to do the PC delivery but they will not schedule anything until approvals are met.

I have a 2011 X5 50i Sparkling bronze, cinammon with 20" 336 rims on order, my SA just called me and said it is done and will be shipped friday. He said he did not think there was any hold on shipment due to CARB/EPA. He stated he just recieved a 2011 X6 50i, which is the same engine, and same vehicle basically.
Does anyone know if this "supposed" hold is only on the 35diesels? And not on the 50i or 35i? My SA told me I should expect 2-3 weeks until my car arrives at the dealership, as I am in Los Angeles. I am very anxious. Any credible info? |

No trouble, but I ordered my car Feb 10. It was the first 2011 ordered by my dealership. Maybe supplies are low now, dont know.

For 8 weeks my car was just labeled as "scheduled for production with no date". Called two days ago with same report. Called today and it is in production with completion on the 23rd. Nice updates...

EPA APPROVALS ARE DONE
i got tired of waiting for BMW, so i contacted the EPA myself and got this interesting tidbit:
============= [email protected] to me: We have issued our certificate for the diesel X5. It is possible that BMW is still waiting for their CARB approval (I don't know), but we are done with our testing. XXX XXX Manager, Light-Duty Vehicle Group Compliance and Innovative Strategies Division United States Environmental Protection Agency ============== so looks like we are again waiting for CARB, which i heard was the delay on the 2010's last year too. when i called the CARB info hotline, the woman told me she couldn't release any information, and to contact BMW. |

California has some budget problems, so I wouldn't be surprised if CARB was understaffed at the moment.
