Hey Blue_Dragon, that link you post from ebay for the cable you bought, does it work on 2012 E70? It should be the same, but the seller only says up to 2008 E70 on the description.

This cable worked great on a 2011 and 2012 X5.

I used needle nose pliers to remove pin 8, but the seller now says they will ship with pin 8 removed unless you need it and an adaptor.

Yes, the cable will work. I've used it on my '09 -'11 so far

Just catching up to this coding stuff today. Also interested if anyone in NorCal has done this and would like to share their experience.
