Actually, I didn't even use WinKFP, it was installed and on my desktop, but didn't need it for coding.

I just used INPA to verify communication with the car, then open NCSExpert to do the coding.

i was using the BMW Coding Tool since it's all one click button options for the updates
you think once i get to plugging the cable in it might still actually work without updating the WinKFP then?

i also used the BMW Coding Tool to update the daten files. it was quick and easy.

yea, I don't think you need to update WinKFP... just follow my instructions in the earlier post about running the CD install first. Just follow the included PDF, but copy the step_2 and step_3 folder to the root of C: drive then finish the installation.

so uninstall the piratebay copy
install CD as stated above then should i try installing piratebay copy after that to update the files?

if i wanna use the BMW Coding Tool for coding do i just run NCSExpert in the background?

one last thing
BMW Coding Tool shows Chasis, obviously E70 then shows Module and has a huge list of options.. what do i choose there?

YES

i didn't use this coding tool for the actual coding part, only used it to update daten files. I'm not sure if you can use the coding tool to replace NCSExpert. i think you still will need to use NCSExpert to complete the coding process

got software all installed, everything updated successfully as mentioned
jumped over to the NCS DIY and followed it to a T
i'm plugged in, key fob is in the slot, following building the profile
get to pressing F1 than select CAS, than F3 for ZCS/FS f. ECU and get an error

VIN is faulty coapi-2000: EDIABAS or SGBD error IFH-0003: DATATRANSMISSION TO INTERFACE DISTURBED

searching google about it now

i did notice when i plugged the cable into the computer i had to manually find the USB drivers for it so i selected the driver from the disc in the USB Drivers folder, ftdiport and it installs as a USB Serial Port (COM3), there is one other driver, ftdibus that i didn't try fully installing.

any suggestions while i'm google searching?

haha i thought i was so close too

*EDIT*
got error IFH-0003: DATATRANSMISSION TO INTERFACE DISTURBED cleared
i had the car sitting to long with the key fob in, turned on the vehicle and my cable LED came back on but now i got another error
VIN is faulty coapi-2001: EDIABAS not initiated even tho i see the EDIABAS Server sitting in the toolbar at the bottom
