Can't get it up

Purchased the iCarly BMW Gen II adapter from Amazon. I am TRYING to connect to '11 X5 35d, without success over two days.

- ios iCarly Lite APP downloaded twice to ipad (pay for APP after a good connect)
- multiple restarts of the ipad
- multiple disconnect and reconnects of the adapter to the OBD port
- ipad settings does connect to the ivini wifi consistently and quickly

Does anybody have any tips / steps for connecting this APP / Adapter? I, of course, want to get it up & running.

I think I got a dud adapter

It could be the adapter. I purchased the same adapter from Amazon and I was able to connect the software with the car in minutes. Did tons of changes and updates and not even once I had a failure.
I would go into SETTINGS--->WIFI and click on the "Carly adapter" and then "forget the network". Turn your wifi OFF and then ON again. Now try to log into "Carly adapter" network.

The only thing I can't set up is the welcome lights. For some reason I can't activate them. It must be a combination of settings that won't allow the welcome lights to work. At one point, by mistake, I changed some settings and briefly had the welcome light work. Changed a few more settings and for the life of me I can't find the exact combination to make them work.
It took me a while, for example, to figure out that DRL angel eyes don't work if I choose the fog light to turn ON too.

On the other hand, there is no option to close the back lid from the remote or to bypass the ACCEPT screen.
Cool is the fact that I can close the windows and fold the mirrors using the remote.

Maybe someone could tell me what I do wrong with the welcome lights?

Has anyone coded the IDrive disclaimer using the Carly App? From what I got from their response is this isn't something the App can do.

I believe that this is on the list of coding functions that Carly intend to add to their app, but is not available as yet. It is very easy to disable using NCS.

Unfortunately, I do not have NCS. One of the things I wish I had and know how to use.

I will give this wifi dongle one more try, than ship it back for a new one.

I will do as you suggest to "forget the network". Then before attempting a connection again I will delete the APP reboot and reload the APP.

Watching the You Tube connections, makes me believe that I just got a dud! If it does not come to life in one more try, I will send back to Amazon in exchange for another.

Has anybody in the US been able to trigger a DPF Regen with the Carly APP?

The iDrive disclaimer and the reverse camera warning are the last two things I really want to get rid of.

Did you manage to get the hatch to close from the remote? If yes, how did you do it?
