A few things, the E70 SUX at advising the driver of charging system problem.

I find it is best for me to charge the battery every 2-3 months depending on my driving. I also carry a battery jump pack in all my cars now like one of these - Amazon.com: HyperPS 15000mah Multi-function Vehicle Car Jump Starter Mobile Power Bank Battery Charger Emergency Kit with LED Torch Flashlight for Laptops /Cell Phones: Automotive

But as mentioned, have the battery charged and tested as needed for starters.

As for the DM-TL this fault, this usually means there is a leak in the fuel tank vapor system somewhere.

Anywhere from a bad fuel cap, leaking Evap hose or solenoid or even the fuel pump has been causing problems where the power pin(s) get hot and end up melting part of the tank sending unit and causing a leak. This can easily be checked by popping the back seat bottom, removing the pump access cover and disconnecting the pump power connector and looking for discolored pins and plastic.

thanks! I checked the voltage after wifey got home and battery was at 12.2-12.3 but it drains rather quickly and again it's 8 years and 1.5 months old so not surprising and it will be replaced soon. Also I taught my wife how to jump her e39 Touring and she carries our jumper pack in the X5 now so she shouldn't get stuck anywhere

I believe she recently got gas so could be the cap, haven't seen that code before when I started pulling codes in November and we will see if it comes back. We have 3rd row seat so I'm sure it'll be harder to get at the pump but again we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.... thanks again!

oh yeah, I bought OBD Fusion (I think you were recommending it in another thread?) and checked it out today, very cool! unfortunately the codes were already cleared when I used BMWhat so didn't get to use that part of it yet

Pump is under the back seat bottom, not the 3rd row seat.

Not too hard to get to, would be even easier if the carpet did not extend so far back.

Sounds like the battery is time for a refresh after 8 years.

understood, but I'm guessing under 3rd row would be easier though because 2nd row has the sliding mechanisms it's probably not like my e36 & e39s or my old e30 or e46 with the clips just holding the seat cushion on

definitely on the battery, we knew this when we bought the SAV in Oct (8 years old but < 30k on it)

thanks for the info, I'm updating mine now!

from mycarly.com:

The iDrive in-app will include the following functions:

TV/DVD in motion
Park-distance-control (PDC) – display like in F-models
Legal disclaimer for USA
And much more …

You would like to know what Carly iDrive Codings are? | Carly

digging deeper it looks like it's only for CIC so won't do anything on my CCC equipped e70: Will iDrive work with your BMW model? | Carly

The last update I received was on Nov. 22 for android. Currently no idrive dvd in motion code. It sounds like fun, but I'd really like to close the gate from the remote.
