It is an Apple thing - as soon as Carly develop a new function they have to submit it to Apple for approval, which takes a couple of weeks. Android devices don't have to pass this requirement, so the function is available as soon as it is released. If this is a recently released coding function, you should have it within a few days, if it is an old one and you are not getting the option for your car, the car may not have the necessary module options or components to auto close.

Carly support can and will communicate in English without a problem from my experience.

I know the IOS App may be behind the Android App, so you may need to wait for a bit. Unfortunately I only run Android so all I can confirm what IOS does and does not support.

LiftGate is in with the all other lock functions, mine worked the first time. Make sure once you coded everything, turn the car off, remove key and let it go to "sleep" for a while. Some functions need that to function, from my own experience.

I coded the stupid legal disclaimer out of my car with NCS yesterday and I will take a screenshot tomorrow when I use Carly to code the passenger side mirror to tilt down when the car is in reverse. I am still trying to track down the module that will allow me to code the seatbelt warning gong to only sound for 20 seconds instead of putting up with it for 2 minutes (before anyone flames me for this, we live on a farm and I have to get in an out of the car to open and close gates, some of which are only 100 metres apart).

^ lol why not just disable it all together? I always wear a belt so no need for the car to remind me.

I dont have IOS but if the tailgate was in there you would know. Its plain English like "Open and Close Tailgate with Key"

I wish the seat belt gong was timing was adjustable with Carly. You can only turn it on of off in Carly at this point.

I have disabled the passenger side in my X5 but have left the drivers side enabled for now.

2 minutes is a bit over the top on this kind of reminder.

Carly for BMW works pretty much on all models, HOWEVER, what subsystems are currently supported and what features can be modified varies model to model.

Part of the issue is the feature set that each model may have differs between newer and older models.

It also appear for the older models features or models are not all covered and sometimes are added at Carly is updated.

Carly is a VERY broad tool covering a WIDE range of models. BMW has also included SO many newer models, the Carly staff probably cannot keep up very easily.

So unlike BMW Scanner 1.4.0 which was written for a specific group of models/chassis around a 8-10 year build window, Carly is covering a much wider range of years and models.

For instance on my E46 I recall only the LCM, GM5 and Power Seat Modules were supported. But things like the triple turn signal lane change turn signal flash was supported because I have a 7/06 build date on my E46, 1 month before the coupes and convertibles were stopped and my E46 had a much newer LCM that earlier E46 which did not offer the triple turn signal lane change option.

So some features may also be module/year dependent as well.

Is Carly the end all tool for your E53, no, but it is a growing and useful tool that does not require a computer or to learn long German language strings and syntax to code certain available features on the vehicle.

I suggest considering Carly as an add on to any standard OBDII Apps or other BMW specific software you may already have. You are likely to upgrade to a newer model BMW at some point, probably have friends or family members that have newer models and Carly will in fact pay for itself if you use it a few times.

Carly is also a work in progress, so hopefully they will circle back around and be adding more functionality to the early models over time. A year ago, I would not have given Carly much thought, but since I also now have an E70 and Carly has matured and been expanded, I have used Carly do code/program many things on my E70 as well as some basic features on my E46 and friends E46's.

+1 As you have said, the features supported can vary within a model series, depending upon build date. This is due to BMW upgrading the control modules during the production run and later models supporting coding functions that often did not exist with the previous modules. I don't want to turn the seatbelt gong off completely, this is easy but I would prefer to keep the change subtle so that it is not obvious that I have altered the setting. I like the gong idea from a safety standpoint but the length of time it sounds for is just ridiculous.

EDIT:- I had a look at the coding options on my iOS version of Carly today and could not see the tailgate function as yet no HKL module coding options), I will check the next release of the app as I would say this function is currently being vetted by Apple.Name: E70 iOS Codable Modules.jpg
