just got a free upgrade to 27.1 from my BMW local dealer on my X5 which has the IV nav. Does the hidden menu trick (to get a perspective look) work on this one also, as per the version 27?

Hi Guys.

I have a 2001 E46 330ci with MK3 Nav (Latest Firmware) I have just bought a MK4 system and going to install it when it arrives. It has already got loaded V27.1

I wanted to install the X5 Board Firmware with the 'Splashscreen' (The ///M Logo).

Whereabouts do I find this Disc Image and is this possible to 'Downgrade' effectively with the boards disc image.

Also how do you set up the Nav/Computer to change the Splashscreen exactly?

No Problems if I join to become a premium member, show me where to go! I just would like a walkthrough of where the disc image is and how to downgrade my OS which seems is one on from the current hacked version with edited splashscreen!

Many thanks guys! Jon

Question Does perspective only work for certain maps versions?

Just upgraded software from v20 to v28 without a hitch. However, when I try to activate perspective, nothing happens. Could it be that I need to update my map DVD as well for perspective to work? I currently have 2002-1 on a Mk4 NAV system.

If so, where would be a good place for me to get one besides the dealer? Thanks!

When you say "try to activate perspective" what exactly have you done?

There are two things you need to do :

1) Activate Perspective capability in the hidden menu (press and hold the menu button for 10 seconds while in the settings screen).
2) Select "Perspective" from the "Map Direction" option.

Thanks for the responses guys... I didn't know there was a step two (i.e., go into the Map Direction option to select Perspective). Now it works! Think I still prefer the Pointing North orientation though...

Off-Topic as this relates to my 6 but....

I bought a Navi DVD for my 6 from eBay, and...................it already has the Perspective view.

I might try the upgrade for my wife's X5 now, and get a new splash screen.

no this is not necessary. the perspective mode should work with any version of navteq dvd, just as long its on a MKIV nav system.

Rubbish. The Perspective view is only available if you have software version V27 or above installed & at least a 2005-2 Map DVD.........
