Im not sure what is wrong but I have downloaded the file about 6 times in total, from the 2 different sources in this thread and everytime I go to extract the 2 files the MDF file is corrupt and wont extract... Has anyone else been having this problem? I am going to try and download it onto another computer and see if that helps at all.

Thanks,
BEATNUT

Greetings FourOhFour,
I down versioned to 2.4 then to 2.6 to get rid of the nag screen. It took a day or two before I saw the interstate shields again. The local freeways just showed up like your photo, then a day or two later, all was well again. Maybe the nav system has to cache these images?

Cheers!

In your first post back in the v26 thread, the 7th image, at the left edge, looks to be I-75 showing up similarly to my problem. Later in that thread, a photo showing the Interstate shields is posted. So... am I nuts, or did you have this same issue and not notice it? ;-)

I've burned dozens of update discs at those speeds and have installed them in lots of cars. Never once have I had a single problem. I believe that it's more the quality (and possibly the type of media - i.e. silver, blue, gold, ...) of the CD-R you are using as well as the quality of the burner itself that really matters here.

However, I do agree that it's still safer to burn at lower speeds if possible (i.e. less chance for a write error).

The ONLY time I forgot to switch the burner down to the slowest speed, and even using decent Memorex CD-R's in a Panasonic multi, the disk failed to load the update and took me several hours fiddling to get the darned thing out of the drive.

I quite believe those that say - burn at the slowest speed and don't take the risk - for me, haste in burning a new copy and thinking "... it will be OK using that disk, it reads OK on the PC" nearly cost me my Nav Computer.

I still cannot believe whoever designed and manufactured the drive failed to put an 'emergency release hole thingy' like almost every other CD and DVD drive has. Makes the whole thing a bit of a risky business.

You're kidding, right (no offense!)? Why should they do this as the dealers where you can get an update are always using the original CDs I've never heard of a original CD getting stuck in a Nav unit, except the drive was broken anyway. That 'design' has been built that way on purpose, I think...
