The app is very very simple. It is most likely compatible. I have not tried it with Vista because Vista is so new. So try it and let me know :-)

Need help please.....I just received 2 MK3 one for me and another for my mate, I first discoonected my battery and connected it up.The navigation icon appeared on my monitor with a slightly different colour blue that it use to be.When I tried to code the unit I first made sure all is working with my interface I made using winibus and listening on the bus you can see lots of data scrolling. When I try to programme with navcoder it says you sure you wanna continue, then I hit ok and it just sits there no message to say its complete is this normal?I must also add that the MK3 has a power on indicator but the cd tray does not open this happens on both units thats what prompt me to try and code it.Any ideas what I could be doing wrong.Operatating software is winxp, Im from Australia and the units come frome the states.

Thanks

NavCoder v1.2 provides no feedback - it just sends the command down the ibus. You use the Telematics screen on the nav to see if it worked.

The CD should open always. You may have received uncoded units, or units that someone tried to upgrade the OS with a wrong CD.

You should confirm that the OS is working

1. Do you get the proper navigation menu on the screen? ie: when you hit "Menu" can you see "Navigation". Does the nav work - can you select Naviation, Settings, Computer etc etc.

2. Using WinBus can you see any ibus traffic being generated by the nav unit? It will appear as NAVE. Send me a copy of the NAV traffic - I can tell whats happening

3. Have you tried an OS upgrade? Caution - you must use a Mode2 CD. See my posts regarding this here:
http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/293615

Read point 5 especially - this may be your problem. If so,you can restore the nav with a good Mode2 OS CD.

Yes I can see the navigation menu on my screen but when I select it it says no CD and it will not accept the CD ths happens on both units.Does it make a difference if its a X5 2006 model.
The units both power up but none of them accept the CD, forgot to mention that once it says no cd then the menu becomes greyed out and it cannot be selected again until you didconnect battery again.

Yes, in the event of an accident (air bags deployed for instance), the BMW Assist TCU is suppose to auto call the Assist center.

I've got the BMW Assist TCU. My nav system recently switched from USA to Europe due to a Nav OS upgrade issue, so I need to recode it back to the USA setting. I plan on using Navcoder, just waiting for the i-bus interface to arrive. I'll report back with what I find out about Assist coding.

Your map discs may be newer than what the nav can support.
Ensure the nav is at software level 3/1-63 - check the SW version shown in the top right hand corner of the screen in "Settings". Report what version you have.

If you have anything older than 3/1-63, then first upgrade the software to the latest (and last) version. Then try reading the maps again. Some old software versions don't work with the current discs.

If the nav unit still cannot read the map disc, ensure the map disc is OK by trying in another vehicle. Or try another known, good map disc.

If the map disc is OK but the nav unit still cannot read it, then it may be worth cleaning the laser. This is best done through dismantling and using a cotton bud with isopropyl alcohol direct on the laser lens, and being very gentle.

If it still doesn't work, the laser/nav unit is probably faulty.

Im not sure Ive explained myself properly.....with both units I have which come from the USA when connected to my X5 they both do not accept the disk i.e. it doesnt even attempt to load it....you try and feed it in and the mechanism doesnt appear to try and retreive it.....could it be because it has been coded for the states and the car doesnt reconise it?like I said I even tried to code it and it just sits there after it confirms that if I wanna continue to code it.

OK. The ability for the mechaism to accept a disc is totally unrelated to software or country coding. It is likely to be a mechanical problem

I suggest you take the cover off the unit and determine if a CD is already inside the mechanism. Maybe you cannot insert a new CD because there is already one in there! Do you hear any CD spinning?

Or possibly the device received a knock during transit and the mechanism is out of alignment - I had this happen to me, where one of the CD guides became unclipped. I could slip it back on and then it was OK. Involved dismantling to some extent, but easily fixed in 15min.

If you uncomfortable with working on CD mechanisms, take it to an audio repair shop and ask for their assistance.

What SW version is the working unit at?
Blue backgroup implies you may be viewing the video module generated graphis.
Post a photo if you can.

Note that you need to exit and re-enter the Telematics screen in the service menue to see the changes made by NavCoder.
