Now you know the difference between different region settings. Quote:
When a new version of software is loaded, the nav often resets to factory-default empty settings. which means vehicle type etc is emtpy, and Assist is switched off. All you have to do is code the nav properly. Very simple. Jochen (in Bern, Switzerland) |

Hi Jochen,
Can I just check something with you? I coded a Gen 3 BT ULF to VR using NavCoder and I only have the Telephone and Notepad command sets, there apppears to be no voice controls for the Nav System, is this to be expected or is there something wrong? Odia. |

Odia, you do have the Nav commands, but the VR doesn't say them when you ask for help.
To test, select the cd view on the screen then press the shouting man button, wait for the beep then say "route map" the screen will then change and display the map. All the commands are there, the system just doesn't say them when you ask for help thats all.

Thanks for your input, but I have tried using the Nav commands and they are not understood, e.g. Hold VR button for 3 seconds, beep, "Route Map", sound returns and no action to the VR command. Could this be anything to do with the SES jumper plug? Odia. |

Do you have the voice set to UK british (female) or another? I've tried the USA (female) and get slightly different results. Quote:

All I had to do was set the volume, hold VR button for 3 seconds, beep, say "volume down" untill the correct volume was set. However, I think that your statement has merit, acording to the ULF manual the ULF should also display the commands on the screen/clocks binnical but on mine does not, so you could be right, maybe something else needs to be turned on (so to speak), I know Jochen is looking in to this, its no big deal but would be nice. Have you tried re-enabling the VR again just to make sure. Sorry i can be more helpfull.

One of the hard things for me is that I don't actually have Telephone or a ULF or SES or Voice Recognition in my BMW E39
So all the features I can enable can only be built into NavCoder after testing with friendly BMW owners who are will to help via remote control :-) I don't know the answer to the VR questions - I can only hope that someone here answers the Qs for you Regards, Jochen |

Try "petrol stations at current location" - should go into a search menu and return result set. |

Or maybe your Mic isn't working or connected properly! If you Nav loom has the blue connector for the separate voice control module that normally bolts beneath the Nav computer then yes you would need the SES jumper plug as this completes the wiring circuit!
