Mine connects to the CD changer line in the trunk (2001 325i sedan).

I took a standard serial cable, connected it to the back of my laptop, then ran the other end to the adapter I bought linked above. Then I connected the CD changer cable to the adapter. You need to verify the correct pin nout of the CD changer cable.

Connect to the interface pins as labelled in your picture, the NTSC pin will obviously be unsused.

The following page on Rolf's website explains it further : Interface Installation

Detail of the connection to CD changer input. Notice which wires line up with the Ibus serial interface:

BTW, Cool tool! My build date was 11/2000, so everything looks right, including the components I had replaced:

- Steering wheel (M3 wheel)
- LCM (when bi-xenons wired)
- Radio (from 2004--OEM Sirius support)
- Climate controls (grabbed the newer style one from an 04+ at junkyard)
- Sport seats (retrofit power seats from a 1999 e46 sport)
- Telephone (bought a newer Bluetooth ULF about a year ago)

The only thing that it didn't properly identify is my instrument cluster (mine died about 6 months ago, so i bought a new, uncoded ZHP cluster and had the dealer flash the car with it)

To KiwiJochen:

Thanks for creating and offering the NavCoder!

I have ordered the USB interface and will try your NavCoder program once the USB interface arrives.

Question: FYI, I am a member of the M5board.com. Can I let our members know about your NavCoder program?

Dan

I took a standard serial cable, connected it to the back of my laptop, then ran the other end to the adapter I bought linked above. Then I connected the CD changer cable to the adapter. You need to verify the correct pin nout of the CD changer cable.

Detail of the connection to CD changer input. Notice which wires line up with the Ibus serial interface:

sir thanks you for the pics I can do this as well Franco
