Backup camera ideas ... before i kill someone

Seems i can hardly see past my own bumper these days and the 5% tint doesn't help either
Backing up at night is an accident waiting to happen. What are the options for my 06/ No Nav?
I did do a search but I am getting confused as to the nav part, is there a way I can get a visual aid without oem nav?
If so how would the display be mounted?

Thanks to everyone who continually shares their knowledge and experience on these forums.

ps. my husband has the backup display in his rear view mirror, I love that set up but assume it's too much to hope for.

An LCD rear view mirror is about £150 on eBay, and a camera that replaces one number plate lamp is about £30 also on eBay.
The mirror might also be able to run blutooth and GPS.

You can use the OEM kit without the video module

Thanks for the replies.
NBTBRV8- could you elaborate, would this choice offer beeps only?

I found this option in an older post, Visor View Visor View Rear View & Backup Camera Systems
Does anyone have any experience with this type, pros/cons?

You need to have a widescreen 16:9 monitor and the OEM kit then comes with a module for cars without the TV option so you can use the camera.

I have no idea sorry. The lamp/camera will be an NTSC RCA.

Whether or not that's compatible with the X5 system, and if you can splice the wiring I don't know.

Yes, any PAL or NTSC camera can be used with the BMW ibus based vehicles with the video module (tv tuner).
