PDC does beep a bit early, and I know I can go back about 10" after it turns to a solid beep. I also tend to look at the reflection of the car in a shop window to see what is going on behind.

For the reverse swing in a front camera would be useful. Not essential of course, but useful.

I don't have one though

Sobi (former X5 3.0 owner) recently purchased an '10 FX35, and it has 4 pano cameras. One in he nose at the top of the grill, bottom side of each side mirror and the usual spot on the tailgate...it was cool to see, but I had to laugh outloud. What I love is seeing people w/ backup cameras and parking sensor, and they've still got banged up corners, curbed rims, etc. Visual/audible aids will never take the place of knowing my own vehicle.

, the new rangerover vogue has cams all over it to i think... if it come with the vehicle fair enough but i would never use it unless i wanted to amuse my pals with it being so pointless.....if i was to use it i'd be looking down at the screen which could have potentail to stop me from seeing other things like a child as im trying to park, if your concentrating on a screen you would never spot a child or an adult who is about to walk across behind your car untill they was in camera view at the back of your car which is useless cause you will probably nudge them out the way, where as if your using mirrors or judging you tend to spot other things out of the corner of your eye but if your head is glued downwards at a screen, well thats just not the way forward for me...

I've literally sat in my car and had someone fling there door open and I caught it. People take no responsibility for anything anymore, blame and rely on everything else instead of stepping up to the plate...i know this lady wouldn't have even had the decency to leave a note after she tagged my car, so thankfully I was there to stop it. I've witnessed people do the touch method, and while I was shaking my head no at them, I wrote down their plate whenever possible and left a note on their car as a witness...i would only hope someone would do the same for me. Bottom line, people need to know how to drive and what they're driving, otherwise go back to drivers ed or do us all a favor and take a driving school.

Another car another time but I've seen the same....actually when I first moved to the area and parked at an auto supply store didn't specifically see it but as I was there only 5 minutes a large 4 wheeler pick up truck pulled next to my vehicle and put a nice ding (with paint) on the side of my car.
Historically I put off taking a bat to the person head as that would have been the only way to deal with this type of person. The picture of the truck is in my mind and I know who's it was. We live in a small town. I am very patient these days, don't let my emotions rule and have found new (old) ways to vent my frustration.

Interesting though in Paris - with a rented car my cousin said to just leave the vehicle at his house, in Rome also left the rental at the hotel and just took tour buses, in Manhattan the Hotel person told me to return the rental vehicle because most likely it would get stolen, in Mexico a bus dinged my rental and before I returned it and while I was eating lunch one day had some guy pound out the dents and paint it in the parking lot of the restaurant...looked good as new (the rental agency never knew)....

The rules are a little different in Paris. If you confront Pierre about using his fenders for parking, his reply will be "well that's what they're for"!
