Actually, masks are plentiful at the moment. Every contact I have in China or even locally here in California can get me access to face masks in large volume. And I’m not even in the medical supply business.

N95 is a bit harder to come by, although one of my buddy can also get it in volume through a friend who’s in the medical supply business.

But most of the source who has reached out to me has the standard 3 layer masks that looks very similar to the single use masks the hospital staff uses.

Anyway, I feel this is really not a wartime strategic type of supply. Ventilators maybe. I think the western culture of dislike for face masks really slowed the adaption of using masks in times of major contagious outbreaks.

We had the similar situation when SARS first came out. All the Asian countries adapted the mask use quickly.

Nobody in the states I knew were using them.

We need to push this exercise and make it an integral part of the defense against covid19.

Agreed Clavurion, N95 masks aren't 100% effective, but if they are even 20% effective that's not an insignificant number of cases prevented. I will be wearing one anytime I leave the car to go into a store for something.

Basic surgical mask works for droplets coming directly from caughing or sneezing. Even non-symptomatic infected people can already emit viruses as an aerosol. That's why you would need CCP3 mask or a few yards distance. Problem with normal people who are not accustomed to wear masks is that most likely while playing with the mask you end up contaminating your facial area with your own hands.

Totally understand that point. But the way you become accustomed is doing it. I'm used to it from working in the attic, painting, and demo. I think it was disingenuous (at best) for the powers that be to call them useless.

Hunker down boys. President Trump tells us another 4 weeks of social distancing and essentially state enforced stay at home until April 30. Trump hoping to restart the economy by June 1. This keeps getting worse by the day. Americans living paycheck to paycheck will have a hard time making it another 30 days much less 60 days. My worst fears are coming true.

Took your advice CW and watched Contagion tonight with the wife. The similarities of the origins of the disease portrayed in the movie made in 2011 are almost prophetic to what we are experiencing now.

I'm thinking our friend tmat might want to check his temperature. https://www.e46fanatics.com/forum/im...palmsmiley.gif
