Seems like people can't appreciate a car if it doesn't have a roundel

This is a brilliant piece and it's a crowning achievement for GM. I for one am happy to see the US manufacturers get ahead for once. :D

It is a fast car, but come on. You have to admit that it seems like a step backward going from BMW to Caddy as far as the entire driving experience is concerned. I am a true BMW fanatic, but I am also a german car nut. I would gladly take an RS-4 over the Caddy anyday regardless of performance numbers.

It is a fast car though. No denying that and it is by far the best sedan offering from the US, but still not the complete car that the more refined German offerings are, IMO.

Have you driven the Caddy?

Not the 2nd gen CTS. I really don't even think I have to actually drive it to tell you it is not as refined of an overall car as a BMW or AUDI. If it were, we would have already heard about it. An American car that had better steering feel and drove better than a BMW and was more refined than either BMW or Audi? It would have been the headline on every auto magazine out there. It would have turned the automotive world upside down. Unless I live under a rock, I don't think that has happened.

I have one on order and they said it should get 12 in the city and 18 on the highway, so not horrible considering 60 mph is 1500 rpm

Have driven the CTS, how was the V6?

What kind of deal did you get?

Isn't the engine in the CTS-V pretty much the same as the Corvette, which gets pretty good gas milage considering the power? Is it simply weight that makes the Caddy MPG that much less or something else I am not thinking of?

I think we all have preconceived ideas about cars, but you need to drive them to really know. The CTS was well received by Auto Mags, Car & Driver car of the year.
