It is a fast car though. No denying that and it is by far the best sedan offering from the US, but still not the complete car that the more refined German offerings are, IMO.

:iagree: Plus it has 100+ more hp then the M...So if it beat the BMW at the track...Big deal...(yawn)... Give the M the same HP and see what happens....

this is a BMW board :)

I'm a CAR GUY. It's like being a fan of BASEBALL and not just 1 team. Do I have my favorites? sure, but I can still the see good features about other cars as well.

A lot of people on here claim that they're "car guys" and well, they are, as long as it's a BMW. And I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous.

It's a ridiculous merry go round.

Let me make this clear....With that much of a hp difference...It better beat the M at the track....Its that simple...I'm sure its a fantastic vehicle...But by beating the M at the track with 556HP..I'm not impressed...

I give the CTS-V credit. It is the best American sedan you can buy IMO, but also IMO the best sedan from America is not as good as the best from Germany. Sorry, but they havn't jumped far enough ahead with the second gen CTS-V to leapfrog the M3/M5. Once again, that is just my opinion and how I personally feel. The CTS-V is a great car, but just not what I would be looking for personally in a car with regard to style or dynamics.

I will also say, that I am quick to point out all of BMW's flaws as well, even though I may be a little quicker to forgive them than other manufacturers. ;)

By the way, Caddy has gone the way of MB with the large displacement engines and massive gas guzzling power. It will be interesting to see what Caddy does with future CTS-V's when BMW, Audi and other have moved to smaller, lighter, more efficient FI powerplants.

You have not driven the Caddy, so how can you say its not as good?

FSETH 06-12-2008 02:56 PM

I can guarantee it is not as good as the M3/M5 without ever getting behind the wheel and you know it.

In todays world with gas at $4.00 to $5.00 a gal I would never get a V or a M.

I wonder how the output 6 CTS stacks up against a 535 or a 335?

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. There are plenty of better rides out there for less money. Just depends on what you want/like and are willing to pay for. But the senseless "this is good because of the brand and must be better because of its past history"

vinuneuro 06-12-2008 04:12 PM

The numbers are very important but there's more to a car than just those. Tactility of all the controls and dynamics the drivers uses the car with are important in a street-vehicle. That's half the experience, and BMW happens to be the best at delivering that as part of the package. Are you willing to pay more for it?
