Sig is so confusing with their P320 Nomenclature - I'm speaking 9/40/357 (but my references are to 9mm capacity here) as the 45 is different frame and slides
Subcompact - 12+1, shortest grip and slide Compact - 15+1 (most similar to Glock 19), obviously a bit heigher in grip and longer in slide than Sub Full Size - 17+1 (most similar to Glock 17), longest slide length and grip height "Carry" is the bastard child, is the Full Size grip HEIGHT and 17 round capacity, with the shorter Compact slide length - which makes no sense for Carry purposes as the grip height sticks out the most - And then you want your mind blown, when the P320 first came out the dealers were calling the "Compact" the "Carry" and Sig had to correct them but it still confuses people - basically if you have full slide and 17 rounds its a Full, shorter slide and 17 rounds a Carry, shorter slide and 15 rounds a Compact, and shortest slide and grip a Subcompact - Does that make sense and help better :) - On the Gen 3 G17 I agree, you'd need man sized gorilla hands as the Gen 3's are thicker pistols out of the box, no backstrap capability, different grip texture (the Gen4 is much improved) - I'm hoping that Glock discontinues the Gen3's soon as they have been around for almost 20 years, and when the newer Gen5/ "M" models come out eventually they Gen4 will be the "new Gen3" so to speak - |

If concealing is your goal - the "Compact" is best of both worlds as it is 15+1, you can get all 3 fingers on the grip - the "Carry" would be basically like taking your Glock 17 (not hard to hide slide length)

Then I guess I've made I decision, haha. Thanks Jason
So the P320 Carry is similar to the Beretta 92FS Compact. Not really "Compact" at all, haha |
No problem - if you are carrying it I highly recommend getting the 320C9BSS model which has tritium sights made by Meprolight (Sig calls them Siglites) - should be about an $80 price premium over the standard model with contrast sights.
But it really is the best all around size of that pistol - (the Compact) - |
Sig & Glock are great pistols, but I'm a S&W guy - M&P Shield .40SW w/Crimson Trace lght/laser. At 6'4", I wear Hawaiian shirts to mask a crossdraw holster as I can get on target quicker with that 1st shot. At 5 yards or less that is important to me as "fast" and my name have rarely been used in the same sentence. My Idaho CC enhanced permit makes me legal in 34 states.

^^Started learning from the best Eric - :)
X5Flyboy - nothing wrong with a Shield - theres a reason S&W has sold something like 2 Million of them - I am a huge fan of the newer 45 Shield, as it has the M&P 2.0 grip texture (so much better) and with the Magguts conversion soon you should be able to get 7+1 in that flush magazine - With the $75 rebate from S&W right now you can get a 9Shield for like $240 and a 45 for like $275 - I have debated getting one just because its stupid cheap - Apex Trigger and some Trijicons and you are gtg with them - Crimson Trace was bought by S&W recently as well so hopefully some lasers for the newer 45 coming down the pipe too - |
Still waiting on my damn CCW to come in the mail. Love how the county will take your money as soon as possible (application fee), but process time takes forever...
