I rented a DE in .44mag once. It was unreal...flames, burning powder everywhere, and a massive BANG. Can't imagine what the .50AE is like.

The gas bolt mechanism is really interesting and did a good job in taming the .44mag.

Beware the cost of your ammo!

FedGov regularly interferes with it's availability via their deep pockets of our tax money. At the moment DHS has just let another contract for ~50 Million rounds of 5.56 mm.

My preferred FEDERAL EFMJ .45 & .40 is frequently not available and the price has skyrocketed.

I've been checking 50AE price & availability each month over the past 2 yrs. I go to the indoor range at Bass Pro Shop in Grapevine TX.

Always in stock, and around 30% more expensive vs the 45ACP I use in the Sig 227.

I've yet to see any DHS orders of 50AE, so the supply should remain constant.

I had a range buddy in the late 80s who had the 44 DEagle, he had small hands and disliked the gun.

I got to fire a few clips thru it and LOVED IT!!! 25 yrs later and I still recall it as the best range session ever.

It's not a small hands and/or limp wrist gun. Lots of vids online with shooters controlling recoil with their foreheads.

I carried concealed - IWB 9 o' clock - under a sport coat, recently, in my new X5. Very comfortable, much more than my VW.

Are there any recommendations for the location of a X5 driver's side mounted holster, please?

Ive always liked the gun holsters that mount under the steering column for a primary weapon, and a back-up in the console.

If the firearm is left in the vehicle, a quick access gun vault is the way to go. My neighbor has one built into the console bin area of his DD Hummer H2, very slick.

Having spent a few yrs working at the Middle River Aircraft facility in MD, I find the situation there disturbing.

The mobs were stealing cars and using them to crash into responsible citizens vehicles, dragging out drivers/passengers and robbing them. The riot control police were ordered to "stand down" and let the mobs "blow off steam".

I wonder how the "anti-gun" people would feel having been in that situation, intentionally wrecked, dragged out, roughed up/robbed, and the police 100ft away (in full riot gear!) follow their orders and do nothing but WATCH!!!

Hope you "guns are bad" people feel the same if it ever happens in your town.

20yrs ago my ex hated having a Beretta 9mm in the house (NE St Pete, FL), thought having ADT in the home was enough. When the riots broke out in South St Pete ALL police and dept vehicles were sent to the ballpark lot to control the riot. Used this time to point out how useful an ADT call would be!

Open carry is still held up in Austin. The bill has a condition that states law enforcement officers cannot stop those open carrying to verify handgun permits.

LEOs are pushing to have that condition removed.

Bill passed and signed.....

Gov. Abbott signs open carry, campus carry into law
