I also dont get text, I get CD 1-71 etc. When I go to CD 6-4 mode then it shows like Vol. Bas. etc. Like I am in the AUX mode, but I then check it to be 5-1.

I have pulled fuses, and battery. Still no help. Ideas? Ipod updated and reset.

What Generation iPod and firmware (iPod firmware) are you using? The minimum support versions are found at this link:

Tom, two things:

1. Any screenshots with iPod on the NAV screen? (did I miss them somewhere?)

2. The only purpose of the cable to the front of the car is to connect the iPod? The reason I ask is that I would actually prefer to have the iPod back in the trunk. I was thinking I could mount one of your iPod cradles in the side compartment where the CD changer would normally go. (I'd prefer an uncluttered glove box/console)

If I'm not running a cable up front, it's a pretty simple plug and play?

Thoughts?

It's a very simple P&P - I would rather have the iPod in the front for convienence issues or if anyone else wanted to use an iPod in the X5. The cable only take about 20 minutes to run.

Damn you are fast.. I was coming back to clarify that a bit more... I wanted to see a screenshot of the UI.. selecting playlists/albums.

Something to consider... I'll call you tomorrow to discuss another mod and get an Ipod interface ordered.

That can be found here: http://www.xoutpost.com/vendor-forum/...lable-bmw.html

This has 3-series pictures posted - but the same text will be displayed on your NAV screen.

BMdoubleU 07-23-2006 07:57 PM

I am also looking to add Ipod integration into my 2003 X5 non nav/dsp business CD. If someone could share the installation details for the DICE kit that would be great! Thanks...

Tom G. 07-23-2006 11:55 PM

Hayaku did a great installation DIY for the forum on the ice>Link - the procedures are exactly the same for the DICE:

http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/s...ll-bmw-x5.html

If you have DSP, we'll need to know if you have Digital or Analog DSP: http://www.europeanautosource.com/su...mod_id=2&id=11

Here's the kit for Non DSP or Analog DSP:

DICE iPod Integration Kit for BMW
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=268

Digital DSP configurations will need this kit:

DICE iPod Integration Kit for BMW - DSP
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=284

if you are unsure of your connections, give me a call while you are at the X5 and we'll go over them together.

Just as fast as if you used the iPod itself. The DICE uses minimal resources. :)
