Ipod Nano 4GB, firmware is 1.2

iPod and firmware are compatible. Recheck the power leads on the DSP converter and the wiring on your DICE harness to make sure nothing is cut or nicked.

Tom,
I've got a 01 X5 no navi no changer analog DSP. Not sure which kit I need to order as your website lists 2 DICE kits, but one does say DSP. Is this for analog or digital DSP? Totally confused, please help.
Also, this will work with the new iPOD video 1.1.1 correct?

wires are all ok, i took +12V to DSP converter trough ignition (- from body), i tried to take it directly from battery but no change. i´m clueless.

i´ve left all dip switches as they were in the box.

I haven't seen many MY01 X5s with analog DSP. If you have analog DSP, this is the kit you need:

DICE iPod Integration Kit for BMW

Or feel free to contact me by phone and we can go over your connections in real-time.

I'm pretty sure it's analog DSP as there is no coax cable connected to the amplifier in the rear. I'll snap a pic and post it up for you to review.
Thanks Tom.

Tom I purchased the Dice Link from you a couple of weeks ago (you sent it to my hotel in San Diego if that jogs your memory and yes it did arrive next day - thank you).

The thing is great but there is one major issue that Dice-Link tech support do not seem able to resolve. When I enable text display I get a drop in the IPOD volume shortly after manually changing tracks. The problem only happens if text display is enabled and seems less likely to happen if I use the IPOD for control. It does not seem to matter where I try to route the text display too. Tech support seem to know about the problem since they suggested turning-off text.

My car is a european X5 (late 2005) with analog DSP, Bluetooth, Nav etc.

I have seen other posts from people that have seen this issue but no solutions - any ideas?

Does the drop time happen to change with different text length files?

No it is always about one second after changing tracks and last for about half of one second. The audio fades out and then back again, it probably never goes to 100% muted, you would not hear it on a track with a second or two of silence at the start.

Using the DIP switches to disable text clears the problem, turning off text via the CD6 'routing' function does not. I also tried routing the text to all of the different options without sucess.

For whateven reason it always occurs when switching tracks with the steering wheel controls though as I mentioned it may not occur if I use the Ipod controls. At first I thought it had to do with ID3 tag length but I have seen it happen on tracks without tags.

The Ipod is a video unit with the latest firmware, the Dice link is only a few weeks old. The car also has BMW assist fitted but not enabled if that makes a difference?

DiceLink had me try a different option using the car dip switches but as far as I can tell it has no effect.

Other than that the unit works as described.

The DIP switches should always be set to OFF for BMW applications.

Hold the iPod in your hand and check if the iPod is accessing the HDD whne you are selecting tracks. The iPod only has a 32mb buffer, so pressing the next track repeatedly could be causing the delay.

If not, I assume the module is defective and needs to be replaced.
