Tom--what's in the works to allow functionality of the head unit's "RND" button to activacte shuffle play on the Ipod? It worked with the Icelink Plus?

The design priority of the DICE UI seems to have been " the iPod UI will now be enabled at all times, so let's look at the most commonly-used options on the radio and leave everything else on the iPod UI".
Me, personally, either leave Random on all the time or off all the time... either way, it's not a commonly-accessed command like the new change playlist- change album commands. I find that leaving the Random command on the iPod works very well in practice. |
Correct - the ipod is the best seaching tool itself.
The most common used features are utilized on the steering wheel. Keeping the iPod open also allows a passenger to control the iPod without reaching over your radio controls. |
Indeed--and it's all fine and good for those who have access to their iPod or want their passengers to have access to it. Personally, I prefer to keep the iPod in my glove compartment and control everything from the head unit. It'd be great to have the option of toggling shuffle--that way, when I ran into a song and wanted to hear more, I could turn shuffle off and listen to the whole album--without leaning over at 85mph, opening the glove box, and looking for "shuffle songs" on the iPod menu.

I've got an 02 X5 3.0 with NAV and CD Changer. Would I have to give up my CD Changer for the DICE?
|
Answered my own question, it looks like it will render the CD Changer inoperable. I'm reluctant to dump the changer since I have a Nav with the really useful cassette player.
Any prospect for a DICE that will alow the CD Changer to function as well? |
Tom--on the Ice>Link Plus, I can't seem to get the UI to work on the Ipod, so I can change settings. The settings can be changed (selected cd 6 on my head unit and was able to change volume settings coming from the Ipod just by pressing "M" and track forward, still, no UI on the Ipod--just did it by ear), but there are a few other tweaks I'd like to make.
What would deactivate the UI, and how can I fix it? |
