Run NavCoder.

Select 'Code' from the menu.

Select 'Navigation' from the menu.

Select 'Read Output Mode', bottom left.

Change 'Mono' to 'Color'.

Select 'Code Output Mode'.

Insert Nav Software CD when the Nav computer reboots.

Hi Jochen thanks for the reply i have had a look on the unit and it has a number with the letter C in the middle next to the world display does this mean i have the colour unit and if so does that mean there is another problem with my car as there is no display but its changing the language on the dash dispaly bar

Some navs have the coding printed on the label

BMWM01S = Mono coding
BMWC01S = Colour coding

If you cannot see BMWM01S or BMWC01S on the label then the only way to confirm the coding is to read it with NavCoder.

Another possibility: Does your car have TV? Is the loom equipped for TV? Is the TV tuner fitted?
If you have an original loom equipped for TV, but no TV tuner fitted, then you will not see a picture until you transfer the blue plug from the TV to the nav.

The other way is if the unit has a second label with a VIN on it. The VIN can be looked up for the option list and Option 609 is the color nav and the other is radio/mono nav and I think that is option 606.

Awesome thread, thank you. It's working wonderfully on my Z4 M.
Now how do I get this to work on my 645ci? It's the '05 i-drive model and i just want to replace the splash screen...

Thanks, any help is much appreciated.

You cannot as the 645ci software is loaded via the BMW diagnostic system only

Thanks for the reply KiwiJochen.

I am good friends with the managers at BMW in Sydney, if I was to ask them to load the software via the diagnostic (I think this is progman) would they possibly be able to change the settings for boot splash screen? And how would I go about adding POI's for speed camera locations as the 645ci isn't on ibus...it's a shame it is completely different to my z4 :(

Thanks again for your help.

You can have the POI speed cameras for I-drive cars, just not the alerts, the POI cameras are a function of the map disc not the OS.

They would not have a clue what to do.

Their job is to load official BMW software to BMW cars using the official BMW tools

A BMW workshop manager is not a computer hacker and is not a software programming expert.
He is a manager that focusses on running a car repair workshop efficiently and profitably and complying with the factory directives.

To load POIs just add them to the map disc.
You don't need an ibus car to add POIs, just use your home computer and add POIs to the map in the same format as they already are on the map disc.

That's called progress :-)

(Not every Windows 3.1 app can run on Windows 7 either...)
