I have the 1000 model, major issues. Did a FW upgrade and it still sucked. Talked to Samsung and they were "..oh we know it has problems.."

Sony unit should come this week.

I'm almost on the 'hate Samsung' wagon. If they didn't build good phones, I'd be there entirely. I had a HD Samsung box for my DirecTV and it sucked so bad I replaced it after punching the front in...damn rage (but that is what happens when a HD tuner craps out at the opening of last years football season )

I hear ya! I have the same model that you do. What a POS. Slow loading, slow response. I think I'll be heading over to my local sonystyle store and picking a new one up. At least they're not $999 anymore ............

Wait, and I'll tell you how mine works out. Getting it this week.

The Samsung constantly had playback issues. When it worked it was great, but the time was split too evenly with when it didn't work.

OMG! I had a positive experience at a Best Buy!

So a week after ditching that piece of junk Casio EX-Z77, and being hassled at a BB store (Deerfield IL) I went this week to look for a new one, at a different, brand new store. (Northbrook/Glenview IL) I was completely torn between the Canon SD1000 and SD750, and I was leaning towards the SD1000. So I go to this new store (much nicer inside) and the two are conveniently next to each other. After playing with them both, I still had no clue which one I wanted. I finally decided the SD750 because of its bigger screen and better controls. But one thing. They changed the price! Online yesterday it was 260, on the price tag on the camera on display it was 275, and online it was either 280 or 299. I was throughly confused, but they nice salesman said he'd give me the lowest price (it was supposed it be 299, he made it 275) and then took $25 off that because of the restocking fee I had to pay on the old camera. So my final price was $249.00. .
I ordered it in black, so it will be shipped to my house the 5th.

One thing is for sure - Best Buy doesn't suck as bad as Fry's. There is absolutely no other place on earth where it is so difficult to return an item. Plus I seem to get more defective items from Fry's than anywhere else. Buy two identical items, one from Fry's, the other from some other name brand store; the item from Fry's will break first. It's become a law of nature.
