I have a hell of a time agreeing that my tax money should go to make sure the CEO gets his $100 million salary next year. Any help the government gives should have conditions, and condition #1 should be that none of these high paid execs get paid anything more than a normal salary.

I've tried using about a dozen local banks for my business accounts, and I still can't find one that consistantly gets things right. Each month I have at least a dozen problems that require me to go and meet with the branch manager. The tellers are assistant managers are simply clueless.

I tend to agree and disagree, I was discussing this in class a few nights ago actually, I would tend to say that this must be done in order to prevent a full economic meltdown, these people are should not be bailed out BUT I don't want their mistakes ruining my life either, so it's a catch 22 for me, I don't REALLY think this will fix it, most of the people who really need this have already missed a payment or 2, so this doesn't fix their situation, if they really wanted to fix it, I'd say they need to make it "no more then 4 payments etc"
I'm hoping this educated people on what not to do without ruining the good brokers out there either

We should not bail out the banks or mortgage companies with taxpayers money. It's not fair to those that live within their means. Take a look around every day we pay more and more taxes to pay for government programs ie flood insurance backing to rebuild in costal and flood plains, health care, and pension bailouts. If this continues will soon be like Europe and paying double for the BMW's
Now I do agree that it's in the bank's best interest to work with the consumers to restructure some loans, but that's a private business relationship and the government should not be a party to it. |

No in MD it is not that way, the DMV is a endless loop of bueracracy in which you pay more and more for worse and worse service. I would rather spend my day in a bank then the DMV, and I go through cars every 6-12 months so I'm there a couple times a year. They are a joke.

But I can assure you that if the top management at Citibank was let go and taken over by the Federal government, but other than that there were no huge policy changes, you would not notice a difference at your local Citibank branch. And I'm just curious, but why did you choose to use the DMV as your model for comparison of how a government operation works. Why not the Fire Department? Or maybe the Post Office? I guess that's kind of like when you guys use North Korea or some other poor country as your model for Socialism, but use the United States as your model for Capitalism (instead of Mexico or Nigeria). I guess it makes your argument better.
