Lambeau, I am sure you are grieving the loss of Favre as are the rest of us Wisconsinites and Packer fans around the world, but I am going to hope for all the best for you and Anastasia. It is cold enough in the southern part of Wisconsin let alone the northwoods. I get up there every spring to go fishing and will be up there this summer with my family. My Great Grandfather built and owned a lake front resort up there in the 50’s and 60’s until he passed away and we have been going to that same resort ever since. I still can’t imagine living up there all year round. Madison is not a metropolis by any stretch but it does have everything I could ever want. Again, we are all pulling for you and I hope everything works out. Like you said, keep us posted.

I forget to add that I had to go out of state to find my wife as well. She is from Connecticut. I couldn't find someone far enough to the right for my liking here in Communist Madison. Plenty of beautiful ladies here and not one of them has a brain of their own. Even democrats in Madison are considered conservatives comapared to our city leaders.

Now, thats one helluva story. I really have mixed feelings about this but I see you are determined which is a geat sign. Ofcourse I have to agree with the rest that you should be very careful but I'm sure you knew that before writing this post. Yeah, we can all say your chances are 50/50 but its just like meeting a girl in the same town. You never know what her intentions are.
Just remember that once she gets to the US, she is kind'a your responsibilty, she is leaving her mother land and will get home sick sooner or later, which could get her depressed. She'll need support and understanding.

Best of luck to you! I gues I have done what you are about to do twice now.

My ex-wife was Japanese. I met her in college as she completed her Junior year. She went back to Japan and we kept in contact and finally decided to marry. After 5 years we split - no hard feelings or anything like that - I have attributed it to culture, socioeconomic issues - after a while we distant ourselves. Also, we were both young. Her father wasn't very pleased either. I never met her parents in all 8 years I knew her. But again, no negative experience. I learned a lot. My current wife is also from outside the States - this time, I went back to where I was born. Been married for almost 5 years now - Much better experience all around - culture (the little things...food, music..language), and just overall day to day life. We do go back to visit her family twice a year.

Because I have had an extremely good experience, one of my best friends met my wife's friend from back home and he liked her. We actually introduced her to my friend via webcam. He has gone to visit three times and is now in the process of the Fiancee Visa. We have talked about all the negative possibilities and he tells me he is considering some sort of pre-nup or al least have her sign a Quit Deed of Trust (i have also done the same) So you may consider something like that. At the end of the day, and it may sound cliche, but do what your heart tells you. You sound excited and happy to have found such a beautiful girl. I would not hesitate to try to make it work.
