With the evolution of technology will come the evolution of all aspects of war. And to pull up an old quote, "All is fair in love and WAR" You do what you have to do to acomplish the goal at hand with the fewest casualties and least collateral damage. And you do this to protect YOUR values and beliefs. And the US's culture has vast differences in beliefs and values than who we are fighting against. What is unacceptable to us is preferred methods to them, and they will exploit that. We try to go by rules of conduct, but that rules of conduct do they go by???????? I have attended more than one funeral of close friends of mine who lost their lives over there, both of them hit by IED's hidden in trash on the side of the road. One of my life long friends just returned home after a 6 year stent in the army and 2 years in Iraq, he stressed that the regular people over there were happy to see us there and greeted the soldiers with smiles and offered beverages, etc. It is only the extremist that hate and want to kill. It was stated by Henry Rollins who has traveled the world that everywhere he goes, the people want the same basic things in life. A good home, safe place to raise their kids, and to earn a decent living. He spent last Christmas in Islamabad and said the ONLY place he EVER came across true anti-American feelings was in Vietnam. If you have never seen Rollins spoken word sets... it is definitely worth watching!

Here is my $0.02
The world is not a perfect or an ideal place under normal conditions; it is less perfect in war time. Obama himself stated that if his administration knew of a high value target in Pakistan, he would order to take it out. Two things in this statement address the incident being discussed here: - Obama a left leaning candidate and is not as hawkish as the current administration - Pakistan has been a good ally against terrorism (regardless of what some might think) and is a nuclear power. It is not Syria. My understanding is this: let the people on the ground assess the situation and act accordingly, and let the people in the white house/foreign ministry take care of the political implications. If you know that you have a key target in your sight, it really hard not smoke them… it is human nature and it!! That said, it does not hurt to speak softly! |

Have you ever heard of the JFK Act? It was a bill passed by congress and signed into law by Bush Sr. in 1992 which called for all records relating to JFK's administration and his assassination to be released to the public. Following this, the Assassination Records Review Board was formed as a congressional subcommittee, and they started going through records, interviewing witnesses, and releasing files. In the end, they released over 4 million documents, with a large percentage of them being CIA. Since then, there have been dozens of books written on a variety of subjects using nothing but the files themselves as evidence. There is no more mystery about these events except to those who are ignorant of the facts. Most of this ignorance stems from the fact that the mainstream media bascially ignored these newly released files and continue to this day to discuss these subjects in the same light as they did 20 years ago. But the facts have all been released to the public. You just have to go read them for yourself. For example, a quick google search turned up this declassified document showing that Orlando Bosch worked for the CIA, and that Luis Posada not only worked for the CIA, but received his military training and funding from them. Notice the part that gives the date 1976 is redacted. That is the date of the bombing of that airliner that killed 73 people. Gee...I wonder why the CIA chose to block out that portion. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what redacted portion probably says.http://www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/...7/19761209.pdf As you can see from the date release stamp at the top, this was one of the documents released by the Assassination Records Review Board.

Eric..buddy...Ok..So exactly where with all these files does it say the CIA was responsible for his death?....And what about the 2 schmucks from Cuba? Still nothing on that except what was blacked out on the documents and oh they recieved training from our agents..Big deal.. Look..I'm not disputing they did it or didn't...What I'm saying is there is no hard evidence...Those files, yeah they were released...and over half of them were blacked out, with a freakin sharpie...So tell me where it confirms what I'm asking you? You can't tell me...because once again, for whatever reason it is unavailable...
You're missing the point..If the CIA was involved or not thats fine, I won't dispute it...The point is, you are basing your arguments on guess work with what you have read, or seen on tv...And none of it is truly revealed to protect natl security, or whatever reason...that doesn't matter. Books? ok...wow, some books have been written..By whom? The CIA agents directly involved? Directly?..No....And the writers were using the files as evidence? Big deal..Anyone can guess what was left out of those files...But unfortunately, guessing (whether its correct or not..again that doesn't matter) is just a guess..Its not the same as FACT...And unfortunately we'll never know...So thats where it lays... Now..are you going to respond to everything else I said on post #108? or just this part.. Another great quote... "It doesn't matter what I know..It only matters what I can prove!" - Lt Caffey from A Few Good Men. Last edited by primetime; 10-29-2008 at 04:46 PM. |
