B? You kidding? Getting on Dean List will pay for this. Yep I agree with giving the kid a break. Before you do that, ask her whats is her GPA. I dont think 2.0 GPA deserves a break. 2.0 GPA means partying all night, wake up late for class, texting while driving, on the phone most of the time instead of studying.

I was in a couple small accidents when I was young and my dads philosophy was, accidents happen and he didn't want me to worry about it. As long as I wasn't being blatantly stupid: drunk driving, driving reckless, etc. He was always just happy I wasn't hurt and took care of it. He didn't want me burdened while I was struggling to make grades, etc.

So while I understand you trying to instill a sense of value into your daughter, I say, give the kid a break. If she wasn't in college or didn't seem to have any sense of responsibility I would argue differently...

Pay for it all, tell your daughter you want nothing less than a B on her report card for the next semester and move on...

B
..Also, in the future, Why not just make her pay for comprehensive on her insurance? That way you won't be out of pocket in the future. In a beater car, yeah, no need for comprehensive, but a Bimmer is a different story.

You can send the panels to the body shop to paint and do the other work at the same time. I have done one similar and if the chassis rails are not tweaked I think you will fly thru that job.

Glad the daughter is OK and go easy on her, we all have a first accident.
Agree. If the water pump is not damaged the only mechanical work will be the radiator and expansion tank. I may still go and changed the water pump and belt as a preventive maintenance as with all the front removed that will make the job much easier. May be a stupid question but what's Pelican?

Dang! We got us some bitch-a$$ disciplinarians on this forum!

What ever happened to "Accidents happen" amd "sh!# happens" ??? A son/daughter in college deserves a break....I mean we're not talking a high school dropout shooting up heroin and hitting up the folks for cash to get another fix...

I guess there are very different philosophies on parenting and I am NOT in Lambeau or Quicksilver's camp on this. As a parent, you need to HELP your kids (that's what parents are for). Yes, there is definitely a time and a place for discipline. Getting into a small accident is not one of them, unless there is gross negligence. I'm sure she feels bad enough about it as is, don't see what kind of "lessons" need to be taught here....

Thats a gross overstatement, I know a lot of people who kill themselves, yet still can't make a 3.0.
Then again, YMMV.

They're pre-med.
This subject pisses me off especially, my school is known for being "extremely difficult" and I know a lot of people who can't make 3.0's. However, statistics show that people who suffer through this school with a 2.9 get into grad schools at extraordinarily high rates, and find it "easy" to get a 4.0.
Its a highly subjective criteria. Maybe thats why you have to get down to a 0.5 before you're on probation here.

I pray to god I come home with a 3.0. I spend my friday nights at starbucks working on papers. (90% of the time) There are a lot of variables.

I also know kids with 4.0's who drink 6 nights a week and use needle drugs.
