The problem is that most dealers will not discount the current model, you might have to wait until the fall to get a deal.
You might see if your dealer has a R3-SL left over since it a slightly lighter version of the same frame.

No discounts on current models. All the 2009 Cervelo models are gone in my size, so it will be a 2010 regardless of whether I get an RS or an R3.

I won't buy it online, I want the custom fit I mentioned above. Same reason I don't get made to measure suits on line.
The Competitive Cyclist link only lists a 48 (midget bike?) in any case. I need a 61. I checked locally, and they are gone (at least in Canada, where I live and where Cervelo is based).

When I do buy a Canadian bike, buying it from an American company that has imported it to the US, and then reimporting it to Canada, sounds like an expensive way of doing it. My wife's initial one hour fit, and the subsequent three hour fitting session were at no additional cost. They also swapped a number of components, at their cost. You can't get that with online discounters.

Well after a year of ownership my Cervelo R3-SL has 2,000 miles on it.
The chain is stretching and I have a new one on order. The white bar tape is dirty and I am replacing it with black. I got a Garmin 705 for it and it seems nice however the Garmin maps, a $200+/- extra, do not show the bike paths in NYC. Thanks JCl for your help picking a new bike. I have become addicted to cycling and my BMW is dirty.

Good to hear your R3SL is getting some use.
That seems early for a chain. Will you need a new cassette at the same time? I replaced both chains on the tandem a few months back, and needed a new cassette. I tried to get away without it, but it skipped. The chain was not worn excessively, but the tandem puts a lot of pull on the drive chain, with two pedaling. We got about 3000 miles out of the chain, with very high loads, so I expect to get more than that from a single bike chain. My Trek is at around 5000 km, and I am still on the original chain. It is about keeping it clean and lubed. The white bar tape is already dirty on my wife's R3. It will be switched to black. White seems like a waste of time, only looks good the first day. I was thinking about the Garmin Edge 500. I don't need the maps of the 705, and it is half the price, half the weight, and has a more visible display for the data I do need. Today is bike adjustment day for me. We did a nice 100+ km ride in last weekend, and got out again yesterday for a few hours. I don't know that we are addicted, but we do enjoy riding. We brought back some Italian jerseys from our vacation earlier this year, (Cour d'Italia, Giro d'Italia, Chianti Classico team) so have been using those. And yes, my BMWs need a wash too. That can wait.
