are you sure? Chevy tuned the suspension for the SS at the Nurburgring... to the best of my knowledge, BMW didn't do that with the X5... (just asking)

E61Silver is an unknown quantity at this point
Have you driven the Blazer SS

Has anyone driven a Blazer SS?

The X5 handles great and evenone seems to think it will out handle the Blazer but does anyone really know?

I'm pretty sure BMW developed the X5 in conjunction with pleny of Ring testing...
As for the Chevy, I don't care how much 'tuning' they do, the framework of the Trailblazer is very limited (as anyone who's ever driven one will surely attest). In my opinion, no amount of stiff springs, heavy anti-roll bars, etc., is going to improve the overall dynamics of this very non-sporting truck enough to compete with the mighty X5.

No one is debating that the X5 will handle better, what's in quesiton is by how much better, and, I still contend that 90% of ALL X5 owners will NEVER come close to realizing the potential of the X5's handling, so why pay double to have it?

Consider also that a vast majority of X5's will always be driven on pavement and never see off road, while the percentages of Chevy's that see off road duty is significantly higher.

Bang for the buck and versatility, vs. handling prowess that is rarely realized, and status.

(keep in mind i own both before you flame me btw)

OK - I thought you were purporting that the Blazer SS would be on equal footing handling-wise. But if the question is just how much better the X5 would be, that's a different story...
I totally agree that many owners will never realize the full potential of the X5 - either off-road, or on-road - but an X5 doesn't have to cost 'double' what a Trailblazer costs... especially not the SS.
Anyway, I think the SS is a cool concept for those that are into stop light drag racing, but after driving a few new Trailblazers, I don't really take it seriously in the handling department. But, since you have access to your buddy's SS, I'd sure like to hear your thoughts of it if you do get a chance to pound it through some twisties...
(BTW, no flame from me, gresch. I always respect what you have to say)

I meant "you" in general, not specifically you, my bad...

The handling on the SS is a lot better than on a standard TB LT, that much I can definitely attest to, so it's tough to use a non-SS driving experience in comparison.

Regardless, I think we've beaten this topic to death.
