$100k... sure if only these cars lasted as long as you wanted them to. In the end, this M along with other performance SUVs are more for bragging rights. Can't let Mercedes & Porsche have all the fun at the top.

Thanks for the link LeMans.
Let's face it. ALL OF US will want the X5 M, whatever the final look and price will turn out to be. We all know it's going to be a HOT piece of A$$... Don't even pretend that you won't want it. You're going to have wet dreams about it. (OK, well at least I will). I think any criticisms like "it's impractical" or "what's with the rear fender flares?" are just defense mechanisms for those that are not currently able to swallow the price tag (myself included). But it's nice to dream.....And drool..... For now, I'm just happy that I still have a job in this current economic bloodbath and can enjoy my non-turbo V8. The X5 M will serve as the proverbial icing on the cake for those of us that can survive this cluster-f*&k of an economy. |
and now comes one of the silliest questions ever asked...
Since it will be coming out in a ///M version, does that mean there is a slight possibility that their might be a six speed manual, three pedal, clutch, version??? I already know the answer is "NO WAY" "NO HOW" but how sweet would that be if they surprised us all. I'm guessing the weight of the car would make it some sort of impracticality. Too much work on the trans. etc. Or do you think we'll see a SMG? Personally, my order of preferance would be: 1) Manual 2) Auto with Tip (please make the upshift by pulling back, not pushing forward.) 3) SMG (though I'm not a huge fan of SMG) |
Just left a deposit on a 2010, X5 ///M

New SMG version is supposed to be much better. M-DCT will be available. Recap of features: -Sportier DPC with xDrive or ///MxDrive ;) -Ability to disable xDrive -Car feels more like real wheel drive -Lower chassis -19" disc brakes -Sportier version of DSC, EDC and MDM |

I think $100K pricing is as-expected: it's in between the ML63 and the Cayenne Turbo twins. Not a bad neighborhood. Does anyone still think there will be an addition of the current 5.0 X6 engine in an E70 or will BMW simply skip to the top-end? |

Lemans, what is M-DCT? Pardon my ignorance but I'm not familiar with that abbreviation. Also. Not sure what EDC and MDM are either. We didn't have those things on the E53 (I think.) Thanks, |
