M DCT Drivelogic in the BMW M3 Convertible.
M DCT Drivelogic uses two transmission structures. Second, fourth and sixth gears are assigned to one structure, and first, third, fifth and seventh to the other. When you switch up or down, the system simply switches between the two. So while one gear is being disengaged, the next is already in position. By overlapping the clutch and declutch, the transmission of power remains uninterrupted. Six manual and five automatic programs allow you to access the whole spectrum of gear behaviour, from dynamic and pure to harmonious and comfortable.


EDC= Electronic Damper Control:
Electronic Damper Control (EDC) reduces variations in wheel load, ensures tyres have excellent traction and counteracts bodyshell movement regardless of the weight your automobile may be carrying - and regardless of the state of the road's surface. EDC can even help shorten braking distances, meaning you enjoy outstanding comfort along with the best in BMW on-road safety.

Sensitive sensors constantly monitor all factors influencing the vehicle's behaviour and occupants’ comfort, including road conditions, load changes and vehicle speed. In a fraction of a second, the signals are analysed by the EDC microprocessor and orders are sent to the actuators on the shock absorbers, which, with the help of magnetic valves, are variably adjusted to provide optimal suspension.
Thanks to Electronic Damper Control, the tendency for the nose to dip when braking is practically eliminated. The influence of potholes and unevenness on the road surface is reduced to minimum. Whether you're behind the wheel or relaxing in the rear of the cabin, EDC delivers a remarkably smooth and comfortable ride.


MDM=M-Dynamic Mode
The optional M Drive system, with M Dynamic Mode (MDM), activates your own personal combination of all of the M3s complicated subsystems at the push of the M button, including the throttle response (power button), EDC, active steering system, and a sportier level of DSC, MDM. BMW claims MDM is perfect for the track, since it allows for a more wheelslip and yaw angle.

Woohoo... But no clutch pedal :(

Oh well.... I'm just happy that this beast is actually going to be made.

I guess this is always a matter of opinions, but personally I don't feel 2.5 ton (5,000 lbs) car can be nimble and fun to drive. For this amount of money you can get something a lot more entertaining, such as say Nissan GT-R.

My choice would still be X5-3.0sd or X5-3.0si as a daily driver (read stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic jams) and something like Impreza WRX STI or Lancer Evolution as a fun car... and this combination will still be cheaper then a single X5-M.

To each his own my friend...one would think a 5000lbs vehicle couldn't possibly be nimble, try test driving the X6 50i and one will most definitely change their mind.

Also regarding potential X5 & X6 ///M price points, I read somewhere from the M GmbH boss that it's target market will be that of the M5. A fully loaded M5 is around the 100K USD mark.

I smell a mild facelift for all 2010 e70s . . .

I gotta be honest... It doesn't look all that thrilling, YET..

I assume it will have different wheels, exhaust tips, body kit, etc.

If that thing passed me on the street I wouldn't give it a second look.. But I also know, it's in-disguised.

:iagree: ...considering it's competition, i assume the final result will look much more menacing than an E70 with M package.

No pun to those of you with such setup.
