Switching gears ever so slightly....will there be a simultaneous engine upgrade for the rest of the E70 lineup? Specifically, either the I-6 twin turbo option on the base model, or the 4.4L V8 twin turbo option for the current 4.8i?

I've heard not, but that's not 'official'

An even prettier picture will be LeMans blue E39 M5 + E92 M3 + 4.8is. I had seen a pic of LeMans blue E39 M5 and 4.8is on another site a while back.

Video: Testing in Scandinavia
YouTube - GRIP - BMW X6 M & X5 M Prototypen

Video in german but they are talking of over 500hp and 0-100km/h of under 5 seconds. Base price is over 100k euros.

^ only $130k US? I'm sure it won't directly convert when the time comes but g'damn...

Great video. They certainly better develop that high speed ice handling to a "T" because there are PLENTY of people in Southern California that will be using it on their runs to the mall in their new $130,000 BMW's whilst maintaining the break-neck speed of 65 mph.

HIRISC 03-16-2009 05:23 PM

Over $100k will be a marketing mistake, IMO.

At the end of the day, it will be (virtually) a 4.8i with twin turbos & some cosmetic/interior changes. (it's not like they are putting carbon ceramic brakes on it).

Maybe they were thinking everyone in SoCal goes to Big Bear ;) .
