Browsing the net today, i saw in another forum, that it is possible to change the timing guides, without having to remove the chain and re-time the engine. Anyone have any thougts of that? 😄

Yeah that sounds like pretty wishful thinking but I would inquire more about that info from where you researched it from and see if they can give you more clarity as well as exact steps and procedures. Full pictures and documentation would be awesome.

Replaced both mirrorglasses today, and fixed the dip function when you put in rewerse 😄 the oem glasses had a light blue tint, but cost around 180-190 dollars each, i found these from a german website for 15 dollars each. They are not blue tinted, but have the wide angel part atleast 😄

So you lost auto dimming function?

The critical part of the timing guide replacement project is to replace the timing chain. Do both. Do not attempt the job without the tool to lock everything in place and using the tool the engine timing will require no adjustment.

I didnt have the auto dimmed mirrors, they were only heated. I liked the blue tint on the oem glass, but they were really stained

Yeah it would be nice to do the whole package, but the tools are frickin expensive, and i dont think i have no more use for them afterwards

What was involved in fixing the mirror for reverse? I need to do the same & found a write up on here about it.

Well its interesting but there would be no way that I would just change the guides and not the timing chain. By the time the wear and tear of the timing guides occur, its time to change the timing chain also. It creates a piece of mind situation.
