Hi All - I have my unit and have been attempting my install, but am running into issues. Any help would be appreciated!

1. I have the PX6 Avant (newest unit), so the back of the unit is not centered, but offset to the left. Did those that do this install just dremel both sides of the plastic bracket housing off (Non-Nav DSP here)? Overboost (post 113) mentioned that the left side needed to be removed, but I wanted to confirm as it would seem both sides would need to be removed.

2. Avin also forgot to send the Nav Brackets (even though I ordered them), are they pretty responsive and flexible to send these types of items quickly? I reached out to customer support and no response yet.

3. Where did you plug in your ibus? There is a plug on the harness provided by AVIN, but i dont have a corresponding stock plug to use and leverage. Am I missing something here?

4. What is this USB dongle for that is attached to the back of the unit?

Thanks again all, I really do appreciate the help and apologize for all the questions in advance!

I found Avin to be pretty responsive. I had to replace my first unit because the mini SD reader wasn't working. They sent me a new one and I sent the first one back. I think I got the new unit within a week. Communication has a delay as they are in China even though they ship from the US.

The IBUS plugs into the USB dongle on the back of the unit. If I recall correctly it doesn't plug into anything else.

I had factory NAV so I can't answer your question about the plastic removal.

Good luck! You'll love it when you get done.

Mine is the Android 8 OREO unit that had the chassis still centered and I had to dremel a little off both sides. When Android 9+ came out with the offset chassis, you will probably need to trim a little off the right and a lot off the left.

They are responsive but will take a couple of days for them to respond.

The iBus adapter will plug directly into a harness lead labeled iBus. The iBus adapter comes in a bag with a pigtail that you unplug and will not use. The adapter plugs directly into the harness lead as mentioned on one side and plug the USB end into one of the 3 USB plugs on the harness. I chose the shortest one.

4. What is this USB dongle for that is attached to the back of the unit?

You might be describing the HDMI out pigtail.

Thanks again all, I really do appreciate the help and apologize for all the questions in advance!

Thanks, Overboost! That helped a ton! Was able to knock it out this morning and all is well. Just need the brackets and good to go!

Installed the Avin 4 over this weekend into my Nav non-DSP e53. Running the extension cables was a royal PITA.

Basic radio functions are working.

I have a few questions:
1. The wireless car play is plugged in, and the Avin asks if I want to connect on power up, but it doesn't seem to connect. Is there something I have to do?

2. What do I have to do to get the Resler iBus to work? It just shows engine RPM.

3. I bought (and ran) the GPS extension cable. Where does that hook into in the back?

4. What is the WiFi antenna for?

Thanks!

Don't know about the Carplay, sorry.

The Ibus needs the IBUS app. It should have come with the Avin, but you have to activate the app. Sorry, but I don't remember how I did it. I think you open the app and go through the settings, and I think it's buried in there.

The GPS extension cable gets plugged into the antenna cable that would have been plugged into the NAV unit in the back of the car. The extension cable gets plugged into the end of that cable. Rear left of the truck, behind the panel.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for replying - I do have the IBUS app on the Avin, but it just shows engine RPM. I will try to figure out how to activate.

Seems like the GPS extension cable is too short to get to the nav system box, will have to take that apart next time. Wonder if I have to run that on the left side of the car...

I didn't have to run the gps cable down the other side of the car. I just routed it over toward the NAV location and pulled the cable plugged in to the NAV and routed it to meet the extension cable. There was a pretty fair amount of slack in the antenna cable.

You can use the nav antenna provided with the Avin. It works just as well as the OE antenna as far as I could tell. I never hooked into the car's GPS, just left the Avin antenna plugged in behind the dash. Also did one installation of the antenna in the roof lining by the dome light and mic area. Both got good reception.

The WiFi antenna is so you can hotspot your phone to the unit or use a carrier provided hotspot so you have internet on your head unit. We use it all the time from our 5G phones to watch youtube, Google maps, Pandora, etc.
